📢 megaphone -how loud are they? What do they speak like? Got a voice claim?
Cam isn’t terribly loud, she’s borderline soft spoken really. It’s a weird juxtaposition, this 7’9” 297lbs firbolg who talks just loud enough that you can clearly hear her, she looks like she’d have a louder, more echo-y voice. Speech wise she’s fairly basic, enough slang and shortened words to not be average, not quite enough cursing to be super vulgar. Since her exile the more vulgar side of her speech has increased, living with Karova has really expanded her vocabulary. Unfortunately I don’t have an actual voice claim for her at the moment, it honestly isn’t something I do very often either. I know how my characters sound in my head and I forget that others may want to know haha. I will say that she has a relatively low, kinda gruff sounding voice.
😨 fearful - when scared do they go into fight or flight mode?
She definitely leans more into flight in general, even more so when she’s scared. Going back to the aforementioned juxtaposition of her size also can be applied here. She isn’t a violent person by nature, and no amount of trying to convince herself otherwise can change that when it really comes down to it. That being said, she has learned that there are occasions when fight is necessary, and if she’s really pushed to it she knows how to throw her weight around enough to get by.
❇️ sparkle - what’s their most prized possession? What do they value?
She has this little bronze skeleton key her mother gave her when she was just little, she wears it on a string around her neck at all times. Her ma never told her where she got it, or what it’s for, just that it was important to her and she wanted her to have it. She would really love to uncover its secrets one day. As for values, honestly is above all. Being honest with her, even if it’s something she doesn’t want to hear, is the best way to get your foot in the door for earning her respect. She’s a bit of a hypocrite in that regard, seeing as she makes most of her living from gambling and stealing, but she’s a terrible liar so maybe it evens out?

🎭 masks - do they act different around other people? What’s different about how they act between friends, family, strangers, etc?
Oh ya absolutely! ‘Kari is the queen of putting up fronts and masks when interacting with others. Most famously her entire persona of the tough as nails, extremely over confident, self-absorbed bitch who doesn’t take anyones shit. This is how the public sees her, this is how she wants the public to see her, from the moment her, CJ, and Kenshiro stared the company, she has been very careful in keeping this up. This is her way of over compensating, she thinks that she’s the worst so she acts like she’s the best kinda thing. A little bit of this persona leaks out into her personal life to, she doesn’t go venting out her self loathing issues to her friends, she doesn’t want them to think less of her, and to an extent doesn’t think it’s really any of their business if she likes herself or not. The other group she acts distinctly different around is her in-laws. Even though her and Kaishi have been together for quite a long time now, she still tries to “be on her best behaviour” whenever she’s around his parents. They’ve always liked her, never had any issues, but she always has this desire to impress them even if it isn’t needed.
💐 bouquet - make a bouquet for them, do any of the flowers have a meaning? Are any their favourites?
And here’s the moment of the hour! And the reason I’ve sat pretty well a full day on this ask. Fun fact, I really love the Victorian language of flowers, I picked it up in grade 10 and it’s something that I’ve been fascinated with since. So while I absolutely love answering any and all questions about my OCs, I had extra fun with this one! Thank you for giving me an excuse to bust out the dictionary!
I didn’t draw an actual bouquet, I didn’t want to arrange flowers. Plus this took like 4 hours. Anyways let’s break this bad boy down.
First up we have Aster. Also know as Aster Daisy, it’s a lovely little flower that looks like, well a purple daisy. These are her hands down favourite flower, purples her favourite colour, and she really enjoys the simplicity of the flower in general. She will happily take a bouquet of these over some dumb roses any day. Asters symbolize patience, something she has none of, so outside of them being her favourite flower, they don’t necessarily fit.
Her lack of patience is exactly why I next added in Impatiens, which as the name suggests, stand for impatience. It could not be possible for her to have any less patience then she does now, girl can not sit and wait to save her life.
Geranium Scarlet is for stupidity. I’m sorry but she’s dumb, no thoughts head empty. I could not pass up the opportunity to stick that to her here. Akari I love you, but you do not have a single damned brain cell.
Fennel is a bit of a weird one, but it symbolizes strength. What she lacks in brains she makes up tenfold in brawns. It isn’t much of a flower, some people might consider this more of a weed then anything, and many certainly wouldn’t consider it pretty, but I think that suits her even more. She’s had a complicated relationship with herself and her appearance, and while she’s made progress in accepting herself, she still, to an extent, she’s herself as many others may see fennel.
Geranium Oak Leaf and Freesia go together, respectively meaning true friendship and lasting friendship. Akari is, at her core, a bit of an asshole. It’s something that can be easily forgotten, but she isn’t always the best person. That being said her friends are her family, and there quite literally isn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them. Even Ethan. She’s loyal to a fault, and if your lucky enough to be able to call her your friend, you’ve got a buddy for life who will always try her best to be a there for you.
Hollyhock means ambition, something she has an abundance of. While it hasn’t always been directed in the best of ways, she’s always been ambitious and puts 100% into everything she does. Now that she’s older this ambition is better placed, she’s throwing everything she’s got into the club and the VueTube channel. She has her goal, wants to be famous, wants to be known, wants to be able to do something meaningful that might help others out in some small way. Bonus, hollyhocks can grow up to 6’ in height, they’re tall plants, she’s 5’10” almost as tall as once of those.
Last but not least we have Marsh Marigold, meaning desire for riches. This one is a little more abstract but still fairly head on, she doesn’t necessarily want to be rich, more so just well off. She doesn’t want her and Kai to have their own place, she can’t imagine not living in the house with the rest of the gang. No fancy car, she doesn’t have her license and has no intention of getting it either. No fancy vacation home, going back to her parents place in her little hometown is more then enough. What she does want is to be able to pay off both her and Kai’s student debts, the two of them are up to their heads in student loans, and being able to deal with that not only for herself, but for him too, would mean the world to her.
