so im actually writing a fic about this (the first chap is like 85% done)! long story short a few months after the events of psychonauts 2 and raz is struggling, mostly with coping with his trauma, his family history, basically everything he's been through. this weakened state of mind (as well as a few outside pressures) allows for maligula to form a mental connection to him. or well. raz's own fight or flight response, manifesting as maligula.

not to give much more away, but raz slowly begins to fall into the same state of mind as what consumed lucy all those years ago. basically, raz is tired of solving everyone else's problems and stuffing his problems and emotions into a tiny little corner of his mind to never think about again, he wants to be evil. in short:
