I’ve received sudden urge to draw darkkids. And so here is it.

I’ve seen people made darkkids either living on land or under water. So I thought why not make both?

They are cool concept. I love seeing people making their own darkkids. That makes me want to create my own version and add them to my sky world.

I already had like five darkkid ocs sitting around for months and are yet to be properly introduced. Someday probably. Someday. 👀

Meet the duo

Her little umbrum friend hid in the shadows secretly snatching grandma’s buns (mos darkkids prefer to be hidden)

Yeah, I had an idea that umbrums can hide in the shadow. Idk if I need to update their info

I have created another darkkid oc aka my underwater umbrum. Meet Soha, an umbrum patrolling the borders of their territory. She never leaves the water before, so she has no idea what the land is like.

I made a little story about her based on my abandoned wip I had a few months ago. Soha was patrolling the borders with others as usual, and they spotted a gigantic creature in the distance, which happened to be a giant night stinger (my fanmade dark manta). They tried to lure it away, which they did, but it injured some of them in progress. Not a great experience.

In my night stingers concept, their size is the same as the mantas except for the large ones found in the Sanctuary Islands because no one had seen the gigantic night stingers. It’s extremely rare for one to reach that size because the ancestors unsuccessfully tried to eradicate them.

I have darkkids in my mind for months but idk how to design them. Where do you get inspiration from??

Some messy ideas for my darkkids (Umbrums I will call them). (Some may be subject to change.)

Both are born from fallen stars, but their light dies out when they landed

They can be either born on land or in water

They wear cloaks and they are handmade

They keep away their mask

Their bodies are cold. They always feel cold.

They like warmth, but they drain light when close contact.

Will extinguish the fire

Constantly absorb light around them.

Small area around them gets dark.

They are friendly but are misunderstood

They can see spirits and interact with them, but they cannot relive them.

They are found in every realm except Eden. Their places are always dark

They are immune to dark water and rain

Eden darkness hurts them (they don’t mix)

Eden darkness can corrupt them

Some can manipulate illusions

In my sky world, the symbol of light represents the skykids and I called them Lumi. Then, there’s darkkids or umbrum I called them. I drew a few versions of the symbol of darkness just for them and came up with this that I like.

Since I haven’t thought much about honking, I don’t have the purpose of this symbol yet.

This is the first version I drew. I used the symbol of the constellation as a reference.

Then, the second and third look more like an eye with a tear. It was based on my very old lore for my darkkids, which is more messed up.

I decided to make simpler. Now it looks like darkkids lost their halves and it fit the current lore.

I had them in my head, but it took me months to figure out how they look.

Expect from me having little backstory and more on creating them

Left to right: Soros, Lilith, and Blueberry

Soros (he/him) - A nuisance. Kicked out from his community. Scavenges whatever he finds in Golden Wasteland. Currently staying in the abandoned ship. Also, he absolutely likes grandma’s buns after skykids offer him some.

Lilith (she/her) - An outcast. Most darkkids/umbrums associate her with red shards due to her rare eye color. Currently staying in the Hidden Forest with Blueberry. Playful and mischievous. Some kids may get intimidated by her.

Blueberry (he/him) - Blu for short. The chillest and a good boy. A tailor in the Hidden Forest. Has a cat form. He secretly sneaks out of his territory and builds relationships with skykids.

It’s Blueberry again. I reworked on his outfit cuz the last time I literally had no idea what he should wear. Though it’s just a portrait of him for now. Full body in the future.

I decided that to prevent them from draining light when they get close to light sources and creatures, darkkids will wear this gemstone invented by little genius skykid, Astra.

Whatever the material she got from (probably darkstones) and infused it with light, thus, giving the yellow color.

It needs to be recharged, but it can last for weeks. It cannot be recharged normally, so it needs to be infused with light again.

Uh, these gemstones are rare and expensive.
