Susie really comes off as the victim of bullying herself either at school or at home, her attitude feels defensive, and the way she reacted to being caught eating chalk makes me think she's been mocked for being "different". She fights like "if someone tries to hurt you, you have to hurt them back worse", but by the end she's willing to try defusing situations with words, even trying to talk with King for Lancer's sake, but then goes all out to DEFEND her new friends, the only ones she trusts.
