I read your novel, and I just want you to know that it is absolutely beautiful. One of the best books I've ever read in a long, long, long time. I got all my friends to read it and they were like WOW!

I’m in a mood, because this just made me tear up. Being a writer is oftentimes such a quiet place. You put your heart into each page, and you take risks, and you fall in love with two characters and can only hope that others will love them too.

You write until your fingers ache. You loose count of how many times you’ve wept b/c yet another damn question of logic has popped up that threatens to ruin the entire plot, and it reduces your brain to a scrambled egg as you panic to fix it, when all you really want to do is make your characters touch and kiss and fuck, and be sweet and passionate, but that’s only a few pages out of 300, so, well, there you go. You write and you write, and you write some more.

And then you publish, but you don’t know what people think of your work, because a lot of them don’t tell you. So every kind word, every message, every positive review is a precious surprise. Like this one.

I’m not mainstream. I’m not on lists. I’m not making money off this book, not close to what it cost to produce. I’m in one bookstore on the whole planet. I’m barely a dot in the storytelling solar system.

But I’m happy. I’m grateful.

Because messages like this one are everything. Knowing that you, those of you who’ve written me, found something special in my book is everything. It makes a world of difference. It inspires and motivates and tells a writer that what she’s doing matters. That her two characters, and their little love story, matters.

And dude, this is way more than I planned on saying, but yeah, that’s what happens when I’m misty-eyed.

So thank you, thank you. This lifted my spirits.
