“you know, if you weren’t so goddamn picky, we’d be out of here already,” peter huffed, standing in front of the smoothie machine in the gas station as yet another minute ticked past. “just pick a flavor already and we can be on our way.” he had his bag all ready to create a distraction that would let them leave with their things unnoticed, but damn it if emma didn’t like to take her time.

Emma gave a nod, rubbing at her face as she pulled back. She watched him cautiously, knowing that with the knife in his hand now, he at least had a chance to get out of there in one piece, or so she hoped. He was already pretty wounded, but he would never admit to being hurt, not in the slightest.

  “Guess it’s what I get…for falling for someone like you, hm?” She said, putting a smirk on as she took a few steps back.

 She nodded her head, hoping that he knew she would be waiting for him to join her soon.

peter smirked, eyes watching her as his hands discreetly clutched the knife; the boy enjoyed her reaction, enjoyed hearing her admittance to falling for him even if it was just an act. he winked at her as she stepped back, and the man returned, clicking the safety off the gun.

“well of course,” he replied with a half-laugh. “where else would you get so much excitement? might want to turn around, love, you won’t want to see this.”

she wouldn’t. and he was not thinking about his brains splattering the wall --- quite the opposite, actually.

He’d been searching the castle grounds for her, ever since she’d left the group, claiming she needed some time. Yet Killian didn’t like leaving her alone for too long, not since he’d seen the way she was suffering. It wasn’t that he doubted her; of course not. No, but Killian knew the lure of darkness, and she had the darkest power there was now. “Swan?” he called out, turning the corner and spotting her sitting not far from him. A small smile of relief graced his face for a moment; she was alright. Killian approached her, silently taking a seat near her.
