     “Well well well, look what lil ole Gotham dragged in.” the model muses, slinkily-tip-toeing her way up to the food cart. Fashion week was afoot, and her petite figure was in high demand. Just as any city capital, Gotham was filtered with it’s own colourful glitz and glamour and fashionistas alike.       Gracie herself is adorned in a formal Marc Jacobs gettup, but it’s clearly break time from the photoshoot, and she’s hungry.

4am is too early to be awake but Dick never really sleeps anymore. Despite owning several pairs of slippers that Alfred always insists he wears, his bare feet move as quietly as he can make them down the stairs. He frowns at the light coming from the kitchen, tip-toeing over and slowly peeking around the corner, “Hi B.”

“Keepin’ an eye out for me, Vengeance?”

Selina doesn’t claim to be sure when he started following her. But she knows to the moment when he started getting close; the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end. She’d given the city a wide berth for a while, but, well. Satisfaction brought it back, and all.

So she’d pulled off her bike, let him ‘corner’ her in one of Gotham’s endless dark alleys. And it was satisfying, to see him have to look to find her, lounging halfway up a fire escape. He hadn’t been the only one learning new tricks.

“I’d ask how you got roped into my parents charity event. But, given who you are, I assume I have my answer.” She replied, sighing softly. “Word of advice? Getting intoxicated will make this go by a lot faster and my parents are truly the unbearable sort. I wouldn’t give them a dime to be honest. The children surely won’t see any of it.”

High rollers only at the table son - you don’t want to be pissing away all that money the old man and woman left you behind. I can admire the balls you have for coming here and wanting to play, but kid - walk away. This isn’t a game for someone like you, go back to the hole you were hiding in and next time Bruce - stay there would you, was starting to really enjoy this city without the Wayne's in it.”

"I killed rather than be killed."

What else was she supposed to do given her training as an assassin? Bruce had never understood that about her or about the league that she was slowly rebuilding. There were just some times that killing was a necessity. If someone ended up dead they wouldn't return to kill you. Not that she would ever blame Bruce for his way of handling things. Maybe if she'd seen her father killed as ruthlessly as Bruce had she might've had a different outlook on life. She hadn't, though, and she would never regret her life. Only that she'd watched the other walk from it. Talia knew that  things wouldn't ever change between them. They were both set in their ways and nothing would change that. Some days, though, she wondered just what life would've been like had they not parted ways. "I'm sure you can understand something like that."
