The Dark of The Night || Irene+Sherlock
They say that in the moments before death, a person shows their true self. All matters of disguise are gone, the mask of strength once worn, it no longer exists. The moment is pure and it shows a form of clarification.
The air was cold and dirty, as was the ground for which she was kneeling on. Irene Adler was approaching what would be her final moments and her final thoughts. She had her phone in one hand, lingering over the thought of a single person. That person who had had such a huge effect on her, the one person for whom she'd allowed her heart full access to. That was a mistake, she knew it and he had said it;
This is your heart.. and you should never it let rule your head.
... and how right he was.
The only light was coming from the headlights of a large jeep just behind where she was kneeling, it outlined several members of the terrorist cell that had captured her and brought her to Karachi. They were holding large military assault rifles and wearing black robes, covering their faces from any form of recognition.
The man behind her was demanding her to hand over her phone, she was lucky they'd allowed her to have it up to now, but they had and that was that. She quickly typed a message out on her phone and hit send,
Irene handed over her phone and took a deep breath and closed her eyes, waiting for death, ready to greet it as an old friend.
