ok so i had this idea suddenly come up in my mind, do you know the anime To your eternity? if not ill explain what part im thinking of. When Fushi transforms into another creature, somebody close to him, he always transforms into how they were right before they died. He ages when he stays in one form however when he changes back to that same body again hes back to the age how they died. Now imagine Danny working the same way. When he doesnt change for years he ages just as normal, he grows taller, grows older just as normal, however when he changes to Phantom, a teen, and then back to his human self hes suddenly his teen self again.
You can do many different things with this, you can make him go into hiding, appearing way younger than hes supposed to be because he keeps on changing into phantom, or you can make him avoid changing at all because he wants to age and not be stuck as a teenager and then force him to change in a difficult situation. There are many great crossover options too, make him meet some DC heroes as an adult and then suddenly becoming a teen again and being stuck like that for years again. Basically its an immortal!danny AU but then with a little bit of spice
Ok I know positively nothing about that anime but my god that is such a unique and interesting flaw to give to a hero. It’s such an original take to immortality too.
Danny having to transform into Phantom and going, “Aw man, I just got to be 21 again :/“ just as he’s about to leap into battle. He later turns back into Danny, looks at his now much tinier than before hands and sighs. He’s going to have to go through puberty for the eighth time now and it is always shittier than he remembers it being.
Danny eventually goes “fuck it” and just stays as Phantom for an extended period of time, lets say 20 years or so. The League has known him as always being a ghost and being in his mid-30s. He has to transform someway or another, maybe having to fight Youngblood again and it was the only way to fight him was to transform into a human again to see him.
The League 100% think that it’s a Billy Batson situation when it’s truly not.
