Hey! I'm sorta thinking of getting a husky soon, I was wondering if you know of some good books/resources that I should look into?

I’m an avid researcher and back in the day I’d get like 10 books on the topic at hand, but I’ve found these days most books are outdated really fast when it comes to pet care. Lots of google searches to get various opinions is best, I’d personally go to the Siberian Husky Club of America’s website as a place to start and get a very general overview of information. But always remember clubs/organizations can be biased in various ways, so always check out multiple places for your information!

What's your opinion on Shiba Inus. They seem intelligent, fun, and very adaptable. Would one do okay in California?

The SoCal Shiba Inu Club describes a Shiba Inu as “compact, attractive, clever and possessed of a charming personality.” They should be fine either way if you are located in more urban or rural Cali. Temperature extremes don’t bother them the way they do some other breeds. They are intelligent as described, but I also know them to be stereotypically difficult to train. 

The Shiba Fanciers of Northern California have a good amount of information on their site as well. One of their resources describes the Shiba as being possessive, and since they were originally bred to hunt, not usually good with other pets/animals. They are not offleash dogs. 

Both sites has breeder lists depending on where you live if you want to stay local. 

The Shiba Inu Club of America also may be a good resource.

I’m afraid I don’t know too much about Shibas, but this is what I could find. I, personally, am not much appealed by the temperament and appearance, but that is just me. queenshiba may be able to help you more, though they seem somewhat inactive, or if any of my followers have personal experience with the breed/know someone who can help you.
