“You have quick fingers,” she comments.

“So I’ve been told,” El murmurs, focusing on the last few buttons left. “Would you like me to undo your corset as well? As long as I’m here I don’t mind at all.”

“Would you?” the lady asks her. “That would be lovely, if you truly don’t mind.”

Her fingers make quick work of the corset’s stays, and she sighs as it loosens. “I wouldn’t know what I would have done had you not been here.”

“I have no doubt you would have found a way,” El says quietly. Her skin is smooth and dark underneath the layers of fabric, and she can almost see the indefatigable rise and fall of her lungs as she breathes, unencumbered by the corset’s boning.

“Thank you again,” she says. El finds her eyes drawn to the line of her neck, the dip of her chin as she speaks.

“It was no trouble at all,” El says. “If you don’t mind, I’ll leave you to your rest.”

She turns to face her. “Sleep well,” she says. El keeps her eyes fixed firmly on hers. They are the kind of deep brown she could drown in, like the color of earth drenched in spring rain.
