okay so i was going to ask questions you can answer ic but!! headcanon questions uwu. how does "the void" spread using innocence? what causes the void to be able to use innocence as a means of spreading and expanding into the environment? and what does "the maw of the void" do?

//first of all– im rly sorry for the HUGE DELAY in responding…! also i will answer this ooc bc it wouldnt make sense to make slendy talk about these things since he’s so secretive, spooky-spooky.

AHEM! the void spreads using innocence bc the void is absence of things. i use “innocence” as a metaphor for ignorance really! the less people know about the other side, the better– but then again, its much more savory to devour people WITH knowledge. since its hard to compare voidal beings with humans in terms of power, knowledge substitutes for it! so the more one knows about occult things… paranormal stuff… the more ‘delicious’ they are to the void, haha. which is why slendy corrupts people with his own being, they see him and therefore they LEARN about the real side of this world… becoming more savory to the void. 

this is really one huge mental shortcut, but when i say ‘the void spreads through the innocence’ i really mean ‘the void takes away our lack of knowledge, fills us up with something we would rather stay oblivious to and then DEVOURS US.’ nice. i cant rly explain it well, i need to work on this haha. 

and the “maw of the void” is the term used for the actual gateway to the void located in slendy’s body. its placed where his stomach would be, underneath those “layers of suit”. its something resembling a seam, a zipper– it can part its lips and devour anything or anyone. slendy’s tendrils can also spawn from it (they can spawn from every part of his body tho) which greatly assists in inducing victims into the "maw”. slendy is currently the only way of reaching the void through this side, he is the only connection between our world and theirs! and tbh he is the only voidcreature with such a peculiar function– his creators often call him ‘the gateway’!
