a Fenrys finding love hc?
I’ve done one with him and Lysandra, and one with him and Asterin. Behold - Fenrys/Dorian. Fenorian. Got a wee bit nsfw.
Dorian and Fenrys don’t pay much attention to one another after the war.
Fenrys is trying to deal with losing Connall, and Dorian is trying to piece his kingdom back together.
They rarely have dealings with each other. They have Aelin in common. So when they see one another, it’s at dinners or events. They wander around the hall with a drink in hand, sticking to discussion with people they know.
Aelin talks to Dorian. Then she talks to Fenrys. But it’s like trying to have two separate conversations with three people who are looking at one another.
They’ve both got a lot of growing to do, so she doesn’t push it. She just asks Rowan one night what he thinks about the two of them.
Rowan tells her to leave it alone. They’ll find their way or they won’t, but they need to do it on their own.
This happens for months. They watch one another, they circle.
Fenrys notices that Dorian never takes anyone to bed. The once-notorious playboy prince has turned nearly celibate.
Fenrys knows who Dorian is, that he went into Morath, what he did with the keys, and Maeve, that he wore one of those collars and managed to defeat the demon inside of it.
Fenrys recognizes everything Dorian did for what it is. Self-punishment because of a girl whose name is only mentioned with respect.
Dorian knows all about the White Wolf. What Fenrys did for his brother, and how it turned out in the end.
The battles Fenrys fought were never on behalf of himself. Even at the end, when he broke from Maeve, it was for Aelin.
Dorian is up late one evening staring into a fire. He’s not exactly unhappy, but he isn’t satisfied. Adarlan is on its way to healing. Manon has found equilibrium.
There is something nagging at him that hasn’t been addressed. A crack that hasn’t healed.
Fenrys wanders in on him and stands by the fire, silent.
They watch the fire for a few minutes before Fenrys makes a comment about a book he noticed Dorian reading.
They’ve never really spoken before, but the conversation begins as if they were already in the middle of it.
Fenrys allows the back of his hand to brush Dorian’s cheek as he stands next to him.
It could be interpreted as a mistake.
It’s interpreted for what it was meant to be, and Dorian soon has Fenrys pressed against the mantle, fumbling with his belt buckle before going to his knees.
Fenrys returns the favor, and then with his mouth pressed against Dorian’s neck, invites him to his rooms.
They don’t sleep that night. One would think they had been talking and dancing around this for months.
At the beginning of their relationship, Dorian and Fenrys tell themselves that they are just looking for a distraction.
They are all hot breath and rough palms.
They always fall asleep together. For all the lack of talking, they understand each other intimately, from watching one another move through the world and spending those moments together.
Aelin waits months before seating them together at dinner. She and Rowan are watching all of this progress with baited breath. They aren’t idiots.
It’s not that Dorian and Fenrys are trying to be discreet or hiding their relationship. They just don’t want to make a big deal.
At that dinner, Fenrys sits with one hand on the table while waiting for the meal to be served.
Dorian reaches up and takes Fenrys’s hand in his own. They smile at one another, and then continue listening to the conversation around them.
