You leaned against the doorway, peeling off your heels. It had been a long, tiring day, full of more walking in three hours than you normally did all day. Your feet definitely felt it, throbbing from the constricting and harsh heels.

You stood there for a moment, relishing in having your feet on a cool, flat surface with your head leaned against the wall and eyes closed.

“Sweetheart, you’re home?” Yeosang called. Instead of answering, you followed his voice to the dining room, where he sat at the table with a bowl of cereal. You sank into the chair across from him, pushing the bowl that sat there aside so your head could fall onto the table with a thump.

Yeosang eyed you with worry but didn’t say anything. You’d told him earlier on the phone how hard the company was working you today.

“Are you hungry?”

You nodded, dragging your forehead up and down on the table. Yeosang pulled your bowl towards himself and poured you some cereal and milk, then sliding it back in front of you. You sat up, staring down at the bowl and picking up your spoon.

“Cereal for dinner Yeo? I think you might be my soulmate,” you joked, pulling the cereal closer. You leaned down to eat a spoonful, eyes closing at the cold milk.

“I didn’t have time to grab something on the way home, and I didn’t think you’d want to go out after today.”

You shook your head in confirmation. You didn’t want to walk another step.

“And we still need to go grocery shopping. I’m sorry cereal is all we have.”

You shook your head again, lethargically eating spoonful after spoonful.

“Cereal is just fine Yeo.”

“Would you like me to start a bath for you? You can use that bath bomb you’ve been saving.”

You nodded, sitting back now that your bowl has been emptied. Yeosang poured more cereal in.

“You’re gonna have to carry me though,” you pouted with puppy eyes, looking at your boyfriend hopefully.

Yeosang smiled gently. “Of course sweetheart. Eat all you want to first though.”

2020 was easily the worst year of my life. I’ve lost so much, gone through so much, cried so many tears that I don’t think I have any more. But I also had so many friends, ones I grew closer to, and new ones too. You’ve made me laugh, cheered me up when I thought I’d never smile again even though you probably didn’t realize.

I believe 2021 will be a better year. If not because everything returns almost to normal, but because we made it out and I believe it’s made us stronger. Seldom of us are as we were at the beginning of the year. Let’s all get through this together! Happy New Years everyone <3
