Bucky can hear Steve screaming too, screaming his name over and over. Screaming ‘No!’ and Bucky tries to reach out for him with his other hand, but there's so much pain, and his arm is gone, thrown away, and it might be the shock or the damage, or both, but the world is closing in on him. 

Steve's voice is getting further and further away.

I think my love for Jane Austen has been pretty well documented in previous recs. I've been working my way through audiobooks of her works as a comfort listen. I just finished Persuasion and thought it would fit Steve and Bucky well. So of course I hoped that someone had already written it - and they had! I was so happy to find this story.

'No, I know!' and she disappears into the bathroom for two minutes. Bucky can hear her rattling around in something. Whatever it is, Bucky will be talked into it, however reluctantly. Natasha is very persuasive.

'Okay! I've got it.'

And with a sweeping flick of her wrist, she displays the black eye pencil from her make-up kit.

'Oh no.'

'Oh YES my friend.'

Eric meets the most stunning vision of unattainable beauty he's ever been presented with at 1am on a Thursday night in a crappy bar with bad vodka and sticky floors.

And the guy is cut. Like seriously ripped, rocking ridiculously expensive jeans and a white t-shirt that probably cost the same as Bitty's whole wardrobe tonight.

Not that Bitty's not dressed nice. He's in his best jeans and wide scoop-necked t-shirt in forest green with a little chest pocket (he won't tell anyone it's from Target if you won’t) and his white Keds (‘cause they're cute okay, and he can dance in them, {boy, can he}).

And Bitty can feel the guy looking at him. With this hunger. Which is ridiculous, given the state of the guy. But it makes Bitty feel brave.

It was never his intention to end up in the corner with the guy’s tongue in his mouth (and that tongue, oh my lord) and a number in his pocket.

‘Eric Bitty Bittle, did you just make-the-fuck-out with JACK FUCKING ZIMMERMANN!’
