I’ve watched “Ani: A Parody”. Okay, now Starkid made Moth Tarkin attractive – definitely not the thing I expected. Of course, it’s because Joe Walker plays him and he is handsome as always, especially because they don’t have him make funny voice or face – he’s just himself with a slightly greyed hair and paled face. I also feel like Starkid treat Star Wars just as I do – a fairy tale with nice characters, which wants to be serious sci-fi and have a real philosophy a little too much and produces so many plot holes. Also, here Darth Wader is kind of a jerk because after all, we’ve all seen how he behaved when he was young and something suggests, that he didn’t change for good. Anyway, what did surprise is the choice of the characters. No, seriously, when you think of a Star Wars parody, that’s not the list you imagine. Okay. Darth Wader, okay Palpatine, okay Obi Van, Jar-Jar-Binks is also understandable, but Tarkin and Sebulba, moreover nobody else from the original six movies? (Okay, I’ve googled Mara Jade in the extended universe is the wife of Luke and the mother of his son Ben (oddly familiar name, isn’t it) but I bet you haven’t heard of her before. Wikipedia also knows some characters who weren’t even named in the show, which gives the rough idea of how huge the non-canon universe is.) By the way – it took me a very long time to realize that in the universe of the musical Stormtroopers’ helmets aren’t removable. So, enjoyed, as usual; only two Starkid musicals left. P.S. The scene in the bar is just brilliant.
