This is my headcanon biology for the funky moldy triangle. Not canon to anybody else but my brain! :3

This isn't just headcanon writing for Quondam in general, but the canon biology, and taste of personality, for my AU version of Quondam, nicknamed; Quannie.

Ask for my permission before using this headcanon for anything and credit me! (It's a no to using stuff with a taste it's personality in it. Me and me only are gonna use it! Ehehe (but I'm being serious).)

Specify which headcanon you want to use! Some are off limits and AU writing. C:

Without further ado, let's begin.

Biology: smallest detail to the largest.

Warning: it gradually gets grosser and potentially disturbing for some audencies.

Note: Please do NOT take my biology seriously. Pretty sure they would count as misinformation if you do. My writing is most definitely not accurate lol

Quondam was nine millimeters tall when they were a newborn

Quondams wings and head are incapable of clipping. Quondam can bring their head as close to their wings as they want and it will never hurt em. They just pass through each other.

Quondam's head can spin in direction and at any rate. Though, Quondam's head usually acts like it has a neck out of habit. (What I mean is that if they lean their head back, it would be limited to the range a neck, if they had one, allowed. Why? Idk. It's just a subconscious thing they don't think about.)

Also, Quondam can turn off this neck limit at any time.

Quondams ear-holes (they do not have ear lobes) are on two of outer ring/smallest rays. It's unknown which ones they are.

Quondam does have a biological sex. It's unknown which one it is.

Quondam's central eye (the one on his head) has a monolid, congenital alacrima (no tear ducts), and a nictating membrane/haw (aka the third eyelid that a cat has).

Quondam's nose is somewhere either right on the bottom of their eye or inside of their pupil.

Quondam has optional tentacles (suction cups form on the specific ray they wish it to happen to) that functions as hands as well as a oral arm (a tentacle with a mouth).

On the ray, the skin stretches and shapes into a suction cup, or a mouth. Simple as that.

Transformation between suction cup to mouth: the suction cup curls inward, a hole begins forming in the center of the suction cup, and the suction cup walls melt. Then a mouth takes it's place!

Transforming from mouth to suction cup: The mouth closes, melts back into the nub of the tentacle, walls of the suction cup spring up, and a suction takes its place. They can also have both.

They can also have both at the same time.

When Quondam talks, it's through one of it's rays/optional tentacles. It doesn't have a mouth in the center of it's head.

This helps make their voice sound off-putting and wrong due to the fact it's coming from s slightly off from where it should.

Quondam's voice is androgynous because it echoes, so that muffles any extra masculine or feminine sound in their voice.

(This is for the Quannie AU.)

The reason why their voice echoes is due to the fact they ate a voice box set on "Echo" when they were younger.

(This was made with the help of my good friend, Google. I don't know SHIT about biology. Apologies for any inaccuracy!))

Quondams lower body is a shell made entirely of bone. It's similar to a calcareous shell (but more so to a turtle shell, as it grows... By cracking like a tectonic plate and moving outward).

The key difference is that instead of just simply using alot of calcium like a calcareous shell, the shell is ENTIRELY made of bone and calcium. It is both armor, skin, and an interchangable outfit (it can change colors and markings to whatever Quondam wants.

The markings on the shell are not apart of the initial shell, but thinly placed around it as it's own peice. It's frailer than the bone shell, and has chromatophores. This is how it can change colors.

The only exception to the "frailer" rule is the two bumps at the flat part at the top of the bone shell that encases the top hole, where the neck would be, to hide the innards, muscles, etc, inside.

The shell does not have scutes. It is a smooth surface with sharp edges (razor sharp at the part where it splits at the top!) and turns.

Underneath it's bone shell, there is a thick skin to shelter it from anything getting into their innards from the outside because of the cracks when it grows. How are the cracks healed and how does the bones of the shell grow larger? Why, calcium grows in the cracks and smoothens over time out of course!

When they were younger, growth spurts were something that happened specifically once a month, for three days, instead of every single day, for pain and the immune systems sake. This process repeated until they reached adulthood.

Is Quondam naked?

Yes and no.

The "yes" is because they don't have any human clothing on.

The "no" part is because their genital, any other biological sex indicators (boobs if they have them), and anus —(yes, Quondam has that, but it is unnecessary, as Quondam has "Digestive Expulsion Independence" aka: does not need to urinate or defecate. Which is good for them because there's no opening in their shell for that.)— are underneath its shell. Absolutely not showing.

(For the Quannie AU, but idfk. Maybe you can use it if you ask ✨nicely✨.)

Due to Quondam having no scutes over it's bone (rawdogging life in that bone suit type shit) shell, the chances of them getting sick very high.

Though, Quondam is one lucky guy, because even with the odds stacked against them, they've NEVER been sick before.

Don't worry! They take baths very often and very long!

Due to the way their shell works, they can't tremble like an animal. It shakes side to side like an object being rattled.

Tw: body horror.

There is no bottom to Quondam's hands. It isn't sealed off. If you look inside, with the normal eye it just looks like pure black. But if you shine a light inside...

You are given a grotesque sight of the innards of a flezor carpi ulnari (wrist and arm muscle for controlling the fingers). The flesh is fully black with a thick (fascia) layer. It's quite reflective. The muscles do not end neatly, but are flayed. Tendrils split from the muscles at the end, and it all dangles right. Cut short of the end of it's white skin casing and never to see the light. The muscle is pushed apart for the innard workings of the eye at the palm. The Extraocular muscles are squished together against the flezor carpi ulnari to make any room possible for the eye.

Tw: detailed mention of hypothetical breeding, pregnancy, death, and miscarriage.

Can Quondam impregnate or be impregnated?

(This section answer things about pregnancy and Quondams menstrual cycle!)

(Note: my answer is for a female Quondam, but the line below this one is about female and male lol)

Logically and very obviously, Quondams body has no room for reproductive organs. I think they wouldn't even HAVE them: no testicles/uterus. If they did, I think they would be so small that they are incapable of doing their job.

If Quondam was female, they don't have a menstrual cycle: as evidenced by the fact there is no opening for genitala and it's "products" to leave.

Pretty sure you'd get a blood infection or rot(?) if your menstrual cycle was stuck inside your body with no way out.

And, well, Quondam isn't dead or sick or infected, so if they are female, this means they don't have a menstrual cycle.

Impregnation is impossible, as again, no hole for genitalia. Quondam would have to RIP their BONES and SKIN OFF before you could even have a chance to reproduce with them. AKA: you can't reproduce even if they did, because they would be dead.

If, in the crazy, impossible case of impregnation...

The child would die. Immediately.

There is no room in Quondams body for a womb.

If the baby was the size as a human baby: If the child did grow, it would be up to the three week mark and no larger. If in an even more impossible scenario of the child living to... Nine months? -Idk we don't know how long a child would be kept in their womb until fully developed- Anyway, in the impossible scenario the child lived till fully developed, Quondam would have to rip their bones, skin, and then the muscle out for the child to be born. Quondam has no birth canal.

If the child was the size of Quondam when they were developing: they would most likely survive until the (?) month mark, but the problem of Quondam having no birth canal would rise again.

More about Quondam and biological children:

A largely confusing and impossible but interesting fact for you that makes no sense for existing but does anyway, Quondam physically has a children limit and their appearances are locked in.

As in, Quondam can have three children, maybe one at a time, maybe at once, who cares, and then their body would tap out and say "Nah. No more kids. I'm getting rid of your reproductive organs I hate this shit."

Quondam's hypothetical children's appearances being "locked in" means that no matter what, those children havea specific appearance. The other parents DNA would not affect this.

"But you said that Quondam cannot have children, so how do you know this fact??" You say? It's written in their DNA. It's there, but can't ever be used.

Since it's in their DNA but can't be used suggests that Quondam possibly has a birth effect.

...

Absolutely a birth defect.

It would be hard and painful for Quondam to loudly sob. Their lungs can't deflate and expand that quickly due to the rigid shell encasing them and it's narrow shape, where all organs are pressed against each other. It causes discomfort and gradually, pain, if they breath really hard or in a quicker way than normal after a while.

They can still sob but it's just never going to get louder or more intense than medium level loudness because of the discomfort doing that causes.

Gasping is okay because it's short and doesn't last long- But HYPERVENTILATING? That's gonna hurt. Screaming depends on how long and quick it is.

A short shriek?

Okay.

Something like screaming and crying?

Not okay.

18-21 is Quannie things

Quondam, though the central part of their head has no mouth, pretends they do. An example of this is: if they were to kiss or nuzzle someone, they'd do it from where a mouth, if it existed, would be.

Another example is that they would put hand where their mouth would be if they are shocked.

Quondam lifts it's wings up high to scare off a predator like an owl.

When Quondam gets spooked, it jolts and it's wings fluff up like a cat.

Quondam's center eye can't cry, but that doesn't mean their six others can't. Quondams tears are... Unique.

Inside each and every tear, is a single piece of rose gold jewelry of any color, shape, size, cut, and jewel. The jewelery inside of the tears acts like it's in a plastic casing of sorts.

Rattling around in the tear drop while the tear itself functions like any normal tear.

Quondam's pupils dilate when stressed, afraid, happy, interested, excited, intrigued, relaxed and... Romantically flustered??? Quondam's pupils contract when surprised/stressed, afraid, threatened, stressed, relaxed, and once again... Romantically flustered???

Quondam prunes their wings.

Quondam's blush is red, and doesn't come from their central eye outwards, but actually comes from the edges of their head, aka their rays, inward!

Quondam tilts their head when confused like animals do. They just turn their head more and more the more confused they get. When they are absolutely PERPLEXED, their head doesn't stop turning. It just keeps spinning.
