Nice to catch up with these beauties today @blackburnmuseum for the structures in ceramics exhibition that opened this weekend. These are the ceramic modular coloumns I made with the amazing @darwenterracotta for the @thefestivalofmaking 2017. Inspired by the influential artist #ninocaruso and the skilled workforce of the Darwen factory ! It’s a really interesting exhibition exploring the role of architectural feaince and how it is produced. Also I’m trying hard not to upstage a Grayson Perry ceramic tile piece from his house of Julie on loan from the @vamuseum also manufactured by Darwen Terracotta. This is a slipcast ceramic tape measure taken from Neil's workstation , Neil packs up all the finished faience @darwenterracotta and gets it ready to ship around the world. His work station is immaculate and ultra organised! With pages of tiles and blocks all packed in numerical order! I was fascinated by the way the blocks were packed and ordered so that they would be easy for the contractors to install on site. So proud to have been lucky enough to be part of the very first festival of making , it's been a wonderful experience and I have learnt so much !
