Thinking about Daryl with a reader who is really book smart but really street dumb?? The reader is so good at anything medical or maybe good at planning runs or builds. BUT!! But, the reader is actually so unbelievably dumb when it comes to survival. "Reader! Watch out there's a walker behind you!!" Reader 5 seconds later: "WHERE?!?!"
I mean he's probably following reader around while they gathers herbs or check out a possible building plot, he just knows that if he left them alone for more than 5 minutes they would likely be eaten. He definitely worries all the time and asks people to keep an eye on you while he's gone.
Heeeeey girllll hey! How are you! I was wondering if you could do a thing for me…I was wondering about wether or not you’d be able to do like TWD characters (Carl, Daryl) supernatural (Garth and or your choice) and Hellboy reacting to a reader (like me) who has Autism spectrum disorder and is insecure about it..would mean a lot
I got youuu. This might be a little short, but I hope you still like it. I've been sick and all over the place lately lmao
Carl, daryl, and hellboy (separate) with a Autistic! Reader
Carl:
So carl would definitely try his best
At first he really wouldn't understand much about it but trust me he would learn
If you explain what you go through to him, he will be listening, and he will make sure he takes note of it
He will constantly let you know that's its nothing to be ashamed of.
It's not your fault.
And if you ever have issues with the smells or sounds that go around in the apocalypse, he's right there doing whatever he can.
He asks Rick for advice on how to help you sometimes as well.
And he's a cop he knows what he's talking about.
And if somebody does start giving you shit about he's on their ass
Especially if they are making fun of you when you get overstimulated.
But the thing is is he will probably wait till you're calmed down before he goes after them
He just pulls the "You doing ok. Alright, give me a minute. I'll be right back." And hell go tell them off.
He's not gonna let anyone bring you down for things you can't control.
Daryl:
With daryl, I feel like he's not entirely clueless, but he still has alot to learn
When it comes to trying to comfort or help you get through it, I feel like he would panic a bit
And probably get frustrated with himself cause he doesn't know how to help
But if he sees his worries, he is making your situation worse he will snap back and do whatever he can.
He's gonna need a lot of guidance, but I feel like once he understands you a bit better, he would do amazing
And if you are insecure about it, he gives you a little pep talk
And it does cheer you right up mostly cause he's really funny while giving it to you without meaning to be.
And if someone is trying to make fun of you for it, he will most likely get up in their face and start yelling at them about it
But if you're around to see it and the yelling gets to you, he will apologize
He tries his best, but ultimately, you're in good hands with him he'll just need advice on what to do
Hellboy:
Ok, so yo, be honest, he doesn't know what the fuck to do
The second you have a problem that he can't solve with some form of fight, he's clueless
At first, his main thing is to go get Liz or Abe.
But after it's over and you're able to explain to him what's going on, he's kinda like, "Oh. Well, what can I do next time"
Cause he does want to help 😭
You Liz and Abe do your best to direct him when things get rough for you.
And he does what he's told to (for once lol)
And if you get insecure around him, he's gonna go on a rant about why you shouldn't be cause he understands what it's like to be different from others and to be looked at like a freak
And he won't have you feeling like that.
But if someone is making you insecure with comment or purposely trying to get you to break down.
Let's be so deadass he's pulling a gun on them. Or throwing them.
He's gonna do one or both of those things.
But if he freaks, you out he will feel really bad about it.
Overall, he's definitely not the best when it comes to other people's emotions or issues, but he will try to make it better if he can
ೃ ⋆。˚. DARYL DIXON X FEMALE READER.ೃ࿔* WARNINGS! — suggestive (?), baby talk, and mild swearing! CONTENT! — reader and daryl share a moment while feeding judith; soft, mutual pining, one shot.
LOOKING DOWN at judith’s precious face, you feel the smile form on your lips as you rock her gently. you had eagerly volunteered to feed her, anxious to finally hold rick’s new baby girl in your arms. now she slept soundlessly, both you and daryl watching her in wide eyed wonder. she was so tiny — so gentle — you felt your heart clench as you whispered: “god, she’s an angel.”
“a little badass is what she is.” daryl corrected, voice soft beside you. the two of you stood side by side, suspiciously close together but too enamored by the baby to care.
the longer you stared at judith, the more you weighed the risk of having a baby of your own. lori’s fate should’ve been enough to scare you straight, but your heart screamed otherwise. had someone asked you a year ago — still wide eyed and cheery from starting college — if you were considering having kids any time soon, you would’ve said “absolutely not, are you kidding?”. it was almost ironic that now, in a world where the dead was walking and the living fought to get by, you were considering motherhood. you almost laughed at how drastically your views had changed.
“can you image yourself being a parent?” you asked absentmindedly, watching the baby girl’s little nose scrunch up. “or at least, did you ever imagine it before the world went to shit.”
“nah,” daryl huffed, and you felt him shift beside you at the question. “never crossed my mind.”
“i never really thought about it either.” you confessed earnestly, recalling all the times you had avoided babysitting in favor of literally anything else.
“why not?”
“i was young — i am young, i know that. holdin’ her just makes me wonder.“ frowning, you let the following words sit on your tongue for a bit before speaking them out, “am i willing to bring a baby into this world?“
“thoughtchu said you were young.”
“what does it matter now,” you sighed, thumb caressing the soft skin of judith’s cheek. “i just wanted my freedom; didn’t wanna sacrifice it to raise a kid.”
“well, what do you want now?”
“i don’t know,” you admitted, and with a heavy heart you added: “a purpose?”
the silence rung between the two of you for a couple seconds but you couldn’t say you were all too surprised. they already carried the responsibility of one baby, they didn’t need you adding another to the mix — not when it was already so difficult to find enough baby supplies for judith alone. you mentally readied yourself for daryl to chew you out, to snap you back to reality before you got ahead of yourself. instead he said:
“i can give you a purpose.”
at the implication, your head shot up to look at daryl, finally acknowledging your proximity; his face is so close to yours that you can see the dirt speckled on his cheeks, the sweat on his brow, and the slight shimmer of green in his bright blue eyes. “yeah?” you mumbled, gaze flickering to his lips for the briefest of seconds.
“yeah,” daryl hummed, and you’re almost positive that he’s leaning in. that is, until he backed up completely and picked his crossbow off the table. “ask rick to give you ‘nother shift at that watch tower, you’ll have plenty of purpose there. ”
“shut up,” you exhaled a laugh, careful not to startle the baby and ignoring the way your heart pounded in your chest.
“think you’ve been spendin’ too much time ‘round little ass kicker.”
“get out of here, dixon.” you glared playfully, watching the man bite back a smile as he left the cafeteria.
WARNINGS! — canon typical violence, swearing, gore, and blood
SUMMARY! — s2-7evolution of how you become close to daryl (part one)
A/N! — this can be interpreted both platonically and romantically, so enjoy!
— seeing as daryl had just lost his brother, you gave him his space. he wasn’t very cool-headed to begin with, so you figured it wouldn’t be the right time to try and strike up conversation.
— it started off with small acts like retrieving his arrows if they were in your vicinity. if things were too intense for daryl to stop and retrieve them himself, you’d hop around, pulling them out of rotten skulls while avoiding any spare hands that tried to grab at you.
— so after a tedious fight against the dead, you’d make your way over to daryl and hold out his arrows with a small smile. he’d look up at you warily and mumble a “thanks” to which you’d respond, “of course.”
— when the group would be getting ready to eat, you’d always sit near daryl
— something about his presence put you at ease. you’re not sure if it was his straightforwardness or his skill, but whatever it was, you wanted to be around it.
— he wasn’t stupid either, he was quick to realize you would always chose to sit somewhat close to him. and it was noticeable because he never exactly sat that close to the group to begin with.
— it was never directly beside him, just close enough to know that he’s there. again, you didn’t really wanna cross any lines with him.
— what he appreciated was that you never tried to make unnecessary conversation. it meant it was difficult for him to pin you as annoying if all you did was harmlessly sit in his vicinity when you ate.
— on a side note, you had made a point to ask hershel to start teaching you a few things. nothing too serious, just how to treat cuts, gunshot wounds, infections, and that of the sort.
— you weren’t all that interested in being the next medic of the group but more so that you wanted to be able to help in case things ever went south.
— daryl never goes to get his wounds cleaned, hell, he barely even looks in hershel’s direction.
— you don’t know if it’s on purpose or if he just forgets that there’s a doctor on site, but when you realize it , you start making it your duty to check up on him.
— one day you waltz up to him after he came back from a run and straight up say, “take off the jacket.” this man just squints down at you in mild confusion. “you’re bleeding and it’s my responsibility to the group to make sure you’re not seriously injured.”
— he’d scoff and say “‘m fine, woman.” and you’d have to stand in his way when he’d try to walk away. “i can be incredibly persistent, daryl. either you let me take a look or i can start being a major pain in your ass.”
— he’d narrow his eyes at you and huff, which you take as an immediate success. he sets down his crossbow and removes the jacket, giving you a perfect view of his wound.
— “daryl, you have a literal hole in your shoulder.” “and?” “this could get infected!” “‘t’s fine”
— from then on, you’re the one who cleans daryl up, especially in those harder to reach areas like his back.
— at first he would huff and puff but he soon came to expect your presence whenever he’d arrive from any sort of expedition
— lori would pull you aside and ask you to be careful around him; that he was a loose canon that was ready to go off at any given second. you’d assure her that everything was fine, and that daryl shouldn’t be seen as a threat.
— even shane pulls you aside at one point to ask you what your intentions are. you scoff and walk away because you were not going to answer to shane of all people
— when the farm is attacked by walkers and the group is split up, you’re worried sick over the safety of the others. you were left alone, exhausted and out of ammo.
— after being reunited at the highway meeting point, you had hugged daryl for the first time. you had thrown your arms around his neck and held him close, mumbling about how you were glad he was okay.
— daryl just stood there because he didn’t expect you of all people to worry about what he had gone through
— you pulled away before he had a chance to respond, examining him. “are you okay? do you need me to tend anything.”
