Oh how about 1. Watching a meteor shower, with the lovely Richard Armitage!! I already know this is going to be amazing, especially if you’re writing it!! ;))
(I’m soooooo excited for this one!!!! THANK YOU for sending it in)
You were excited to hear across the news and weather forecast that a meteor shower was going to be happening that night. Preparations had begun as soon as you found out. Memories from your childhood began to come back to you: camping out in your back garden, staring at the sky in the middle of summer when the day’s heat had dissipated and you could finally breathe. Millions of stars twinkled overhead, like glitter tossed against a black canvas. So beautiful.
However, just as dusk was closing in, your phone rang.
“Hey, Rich,” you chirped, happy to hear the voice of your best friend down the line. He always eased you and made you full of joy. “How are you, love?”
“I’m good; all the better hearing you.”
You blushed, hanging your head and biting your lip. Those compliments never failed to cause a stir. Could you truly believe it all? No, not really.
“Can I come and have a word with you about something?” he asked. “I won’t stay long as I know you’re watching the meteor shower tonight in your garden.”
“Of course,” you replied, becoming a little more apprehensive. What ever did he want to talk to you about? “You can join me if you want to.”
“I’ll have a think on it. I shouldn't be too long...”
A minute later and your door knocked.
You walked down the hall, seeing the shadow of someone behind the frosted glass.
“That was bloody quick!” you exclaimed as you saw Richard standing outside your flat.
He smirked. “I was in the car when I called you. I brought some goodies and thought you might want to head up into one of the fields and watch the shower from there.” For emphasis, Richard held up a bag of various sweet items and a large flask, no doubt full of tea or coffee. “I’ve got some blankets as well.”
“Oh, Rich, you didn’t have to do that, love,” you said, blushing again.
“But I wanted to. I know you’ve been waiting for tonight now for a couple of weeks.”
Richard drove you a few miles out of town after you had pulled on a thin jacket as it was still mid-summer and the air close. He seemed happy with himself and looked across at you every now and then, offering a smile. After a short while, the roads became a little more bumpy as you jiggled to and fro in your seat.
“I’ll just park up here,” Richard told you.
You both got out of the car, taking all the belongings with you and settled down at the edge of the field. Richard had a torch, highlighting the way to make sure there was nothing that you would tread in or fall down.
“Here seems a good spot,” he said again, putting down a couple of blankets.
The air was finally free of heat and humidity, holding a very slight but comfortable chill. In the heavens you could see the stars beginning to glow. You sat back and watched Richard sit down beside you. Immediately you dived into the bag of food, pulling out a chocolate bar.
Richard opened the flask and poured himself a tea, then offered you one.
In the distance and you could faintly hear the flow of traffic, it soothed you. All sounds seemed far away as though you were sat in a world completely your own and no one would disturb you. The smell around you was fresh cut grass, and it made you breathe in deep.
The sky grew darker and the stars brighter, until suddenly you saw the first shooting star of the evening. “Did you see it?!” you called to Richard, even though he was just beside you. You pointed up to the sky, grinning from ear to ear. Your childhood seemed to come rushing back in those moments.
“That I did. You’ve got make a wish on it, haven’t you?” he asked, resting back and crossing his legs.
“I know what I wish for,” you said softly. It was the same wish that you had held within your heart for months now.
“What is it?” Richard asked.
You looked at him, then turned your gaze downwards, blushing again. “It wouldn’t come true if I told you.”
“That’s just superstition,” Richard chuckled.
