The Tim Johnson Mud Fund - A Description
The Tim Johnson Mud Fund is a sholarship fund aimed at supporting American Junior and U23 Cyclocross racers.
“Providing scholarship funds will help alleviate some of the financial pressures kids, young adults, and parents face if they are not on a well-financed junior or collegiate team. If the cost of getting to Nationals, EuroCross Camp or an international race is covered, young racers can focus on training and racing, rather than stressing out about how they will pay for the race,” said Tim Johnson.
Contributions to the fund will come, for the most part, from the sales of a Das Pro und The Rookie, a full-length DVD Johnson filmed with Chandler Delinks and Todd Prekaski during the 2010/2011 season. Additionally, $5 from every sale of I Cowbell CX t-shirts will be donated to the Mud Fund.
The Mud Fund hopes to make additional items available for purchase throughout the season in hopes of raising even more money for the scholarship fund.
The primary goal of the Mud Fund this season is to assist young racers hoping to compete at the US National Championships in Madison, WI as well as the World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.
"We are very optimistic about the amount of support the Mud Fund will be able to offer to our young racers this season. The initial support from sponsors to get the DVD made was overwhelming and we have been making steady sales every day. Now with I Cowbell CX on board we are gaining some real momentum in our fund raising. We can't wait to open up the application process and really make a difference for some young racers," said Delinks.
As these events grow closer on the calendar, information regarding the scholarship requirements and application process will be released here.
