Out of curiosity, when the same characters appear in multiple iterations, are there any patterns in likes vs dislikes?
There are some noticeable patterns with each iteration.
These are the Strongly Like, Neutral, and Strongly Dislike scores of the polls for Kirk, Spock, and Bones for their TOS, AOS, and SNW iterations:
With the main three in the original series, people like their original version the most. This is unsurprising. People are very attached to the original series characterizations of these three and find many issues in how they are characterized in later iterations.
The same goes for recurring characters that are given a fair amount of screen time to have their personalities be explored in the original series/original films, as can be seen in the results for Uhura and Scotty:
Chekov is a bit anomalous in this case. And this may be due to his flaws in his TOS characterization or how endearing his characterization is in AOS.
There are also characters that are left largely undeveloped in the original series that are turned into their own characters in SNW. There is less to truly examine in the characterizations of Pike, M'Benga, or Chapel in TOS, and since SNW gives those characters more substance, there is going to be more to like and to dislike.
And then there's Benedict Cumberbatch.
