In the first U.S. population-based study of obstetric health among sexual- and gender-minority parents, Stanford researchers find higher rat
Sharing this because it pisses me off so much.
Congrats, California. You’ve conflated trans with LGB so thoroughly that you’ve effectively erased them both. You now have years of functionally worthless data. Great.
No shit? You think the self-identified ~fathers~ GIVING BIRTH are “possibly” transgender men? As opposed to what, exactly?? All those males pushing out babies through their dicks???
And don’t get me wrong, these results are important!
These are serious results! We just can’t (and the researchers won’t) draw any real conclusions about them!
They controlled for so many variables, but it ultimately doesn’t matter when you don’t even know the sex of your subjects!
IMO, and I’m shocked they didn’t mention it considering all of the other variables they DID look at, a lot of this is likely the result of IVF and other reproductive technologies. IVF has a well-established causal relationship with multiple births. It makes sense that same-sex partnered women are using IVF to get pregnant at significantly higher rates than het partnered women. Did they consider that at all? Are they saving it for a separate paper or something? Wtf.
