dataAE is a Spanish architecture office from Barcelona; in 2016 the studio renovated an old dilapidated house in the historic center of the Sant Feliu de Llobregat. The renovation is based on the original composition, volume and structure of the house.
On the ground floor the studio preserved the original wooden beams; dataAE built a new staircase to gain more space for the natural light coming from the ceiling windows. The kitchen and living room are located in the ground floor, while bedroom, a home office and a bathroom are on the first floor. “To maintain as much as possible of the original building, only the elements that have lost their structural capacity were modified. This provokes a strong contrast between the old and the modern, emphasizing the simplicity of the traditional architecture.”
