What's your unpopular opinion about Detective Conan?
Mine: I don't get the hype and all this focus on the police squad formed by Amuro and his friends, I like Amuro and don't mind the others but I just don't see it (ready to get lynched)
I'm curious in all your AUs where there're more people how does Takagi calls them? Or how they call Takagi? For example like how Takagi calls Gin in BO! Takagi AU and vice versa, and in Bittersweet Siblings AU how Takagi and WPS gang call each other, also in alternate timeline where Takagi, Gin, and Curacao are siblings, how do each siblings call each other? If this isn't too much 😅
Oh boy this is a bit of a yap.
So in all the au's regardless of if it's a cross over or not, everyone both canon characters and ocs usually call Takagi well 'Takagi-kun' since that's literally what everyone calls him.
There are a few exceptions with Chiba and Miike referring him to him as 'Takagi-san' since he's older than them and with the Detective Boys it's usually 'Takagi-keiji'.
Of course there are the exceptions of some au's, especially ones that have my OCS or family headcanons.
In BO!Takagi au, in the BO or during mission's Takagi and Gin usually refer to each other as their codenames which is 'Moonshine' and 'Gin' respectively, but outside of the BO they refer to each other as 'Takagi' and 'Kurosawa' which are their alias outside the BO.
There were two reasons they called each other by that instead of their codenames, the more obvious one being that they can't refer to each other as their codenames in public because having alcohol drinks as nicknames is odd.
The second and main reason is that it was their name outside of the BO, it was something that wasn't associated to the BO directly and plus it was what they chose to name themselves. So those names are really important to them in a way. (Curacao also has a name but I still haven't decided on what to call her yet)
In Bittersweet Siblings au, Takagi usually refers to everyone when they aren't on duty as their names, for example 'Jinpei-nii-san' or 'Rei-san'. Of course there's the exception of Date since the two of them share the same name just a different kanji so they refer to each other as their surnames.
Matsuda, Hiromitsu and Rei would refer him as 'Wataru', while Hagiwara and Chihaya would refer him as 'Takagi-chan' or 'Wataru-chan'.
As for Takagi's friends (4 of them) who died in this au all refered to him as 'Takagi-kun'. Of course in Altered au where they are alive, they refer him as 'Wataru'.
Speaking of Altered au, there are also some other aus that follow the same family headcanons which are Sakura Children au and Florist Takagi au.
The siblings, Keiko, Shirogane(Gin), Shirayuki(Curacao), Masami and Takagi all refered to each other by their names with the added '-san' or '-kun' depending on who is older and younger.
However Keiko, Shirogane and Shirayuki are also referred as 'Ane', 'Aniki and 'Aneki' respectively by Masami and Takagi. Takagi sometimes refer Masami as 'Onee-chan' but usually when they are alone.
Everyone including Takagi's friends and Kobayashi refer him as 'Wataru' whenever he isn't working on a case or outside of work since they know how much his name means to him. (Transmasc headcanon if anyone is confused)
However Takagi does have a nickname growing up which only his siblings, close friends which includes Kobayashi know about and can call him that.
The nickname was 'Bambi', yes as in the movie Bambi.
This nickname was given to him when he was born by a 6 year old Shirogane who was very much obsessed with the movie Bambi at the time.
Ironically enough he grew up using that nickname more often than his dead name, so before he officially got his name 'Wataru', everyone just called him 'Bambi'.
However that nickname is something only people he trusts can call him as, anyone else would just get a disturbed/uncomfortable reaction from Takagi.
Also something extra here for Caretaker au,
Conan and the Detective Boys refer to Takagi as 'Takagi-san' instead of keiji since he is Conan's foster parent in that au.
Also Conan once called Takagi 'Dad' by accident once, which doesn't include the times he called him 'Dad' for pretending purposes. Conan actually called him 'Dad' in front of people the two of them know.
