I just had a terrible idea for a Bg3 fic.

We follow Enver Gortash as he climbs the political ladder of Baldur's Gate, just after he built the first bits of the Steel Watch, yet before the Elderbrain is captured. So at this time he is still working with the temple of Bhaal but he also is still vulnerable to the Flaming Fist coming after him.

All of a sudden, things start going wrong. An investigation into a murder he ordered has led to two detectives constantly hounding him and interupting his plans.

The two detecitives? Frank Drebin and Lt Columbo.

On one end Gortash is dealing with the single dumbest man to ever live who, through shere force of dumb luck and cartoon logic, ends up messing with all of his plans. On the other end is Columbo, who is acting like the second dumbest man who ends up poking a thousand holes in every lie Gortash tells. He tries to have the pair murdered but every assassin who approaches Drebin somehow slips on a banana peel and ends up in a spike pit while no one can even figure out where Columbo is when he's not investigating.

The fic ends with the plot being foiled by Drebin accidentally destroying the Iron Throne and saving the Gondians (He was trying to get some fresh fish) while Columbo reveals he knows the True name of Gond and has already destroyed the Foundry.

The fic ends with Gortash in prison seeing a vision of a confused Bane, who keeps asking Gortash what the fuck happened.
