Death Note but Furuya Rei leads the Kira Taskforce
It's been almost a decade since I read Death Note so I don't recall the plot in detail but legit this would be incredibly funny. Actually bonus points if L is still there and "totally average officer Amuro Tooru" just gets added to the roster. And at this point you'd be tempted to go "oooh so Furuya and L collaborate to catch Kira, wow they've got this in the bag!" and you'd be WRONG💥
Furuya doesn't really like L because ://// once again foreigners are coming to his Japan and doing whatever the fuck they want. L doesn't trust Amuro as far as he can throw the guy because he knows the fucker is lying all the time! What the fuck, this guy is clearly at least PSB or some shit. And what if he was Kira actually. He actually fits the profile they have to a worrying degree??? Oh fuck him with a chainsaw what if Light Yagami really isn't Kira... What if it's this Amuro Tooru whose real name L cannot find... Of course...
And so the plot gets even more convoluted because L keeps trying to figure out if the Amuro Tooru lead might actually have some merit to it but Furuya just won't give him anything to work with and they keep hating on each other and making the collaboration unnecessarily more difficult for everyone involved while Light keeps getting away with more and more shit
"Did I lose...?" Eyebrows knitting together, Shuuichi stares at the screen in vague awe and a whole lot of confusion. As it turns out, his wife is back from the dead and currently bringing a chainsaw down onto his wrist with a passion, pushing and pushing until his hand falls off among violent sprays of blood.
"Nope," Jodie replies, popping the 'p'. "Just heal and keep going."
"I'm bleeding out," Shuuichi points out, a little needlessly if you ask him. "She chopped my hand off. Look at it." With his own, perfectly intact hand, he gestures towards the screen, where the protagonist is holding the stump at eye level. There's nowhere near as much blood gushing out of it as Shuuichi knows that kind of injury would realistically cause, but the sight is gruesome enough nonetheless.
Jodie has the audacity to roll her eyes. "You're fine, Shuu. Go look for your wife."
"So she can chop my other hand off?"
"And your dick, if you're not careful."
Shuuichi pauses the game. "...Really?"
"Nah. I'm just fucking with you." As she speaks, Jodie flashes him a brilliant smile. It is not reassuring in the least.
@clownakai: #I am like. Immensely curious about the scar on Jodie's arm. I'm trying to recall if she's ever been injured there but I'm drawing a blank#Is it headcanon? Is it perchance smth related to the fall of the BO if this is set sometime post-canon? I'M DYING OVER HERE I'M SO CURIOUS
Thank you sm for your nice tags sdkjskgh!!!! they're headcanons! I was thinking that as a field agent she probably got at least a few big scars, but I didn't think about how she would get them...something related to the fall of the BO actually sounds so cool 👀

I really, really, really liked One-Eyed Flashback, awesome movie and one of the best in the franchise. But it's very obvious that it was written by people who have never lived in mountain country. Which would ordinarily not be a problem (I don't think it's a hot take to say that Detective Conan movies are a little unrealistic), but it just so happens that both me and my partner did grow up in small mountain towns. So all our commentary was like "The way this scene fits so neatly against the larger franchise themes of criminal rehabilitation and redempti– Oh that is a dumbass move. That's not how any of this works. No one in their right mind would ever do that. Guys I think Komei is going to die."
Why is it always "Agent Camel, what the hell man, you blew my cover" and never "Thank you Agent Camel for blowing my cover, resulting in me having to get removed from the country, and by extension, removed from the immediate radius of one extremely angry Bourbon, who was probably twelve steps deep into a convoluted plan to ensure I "accidentally" died while out in the field. Thanks Camel, you're such a bro."
