So I met him today when I was coming back of my lessons and the funny thing is he got really pale when he saw me. He's been avoiding me since I told him I didn't want sex with him because that's what he told me he was looking for. Idk if he got angry or really embarrassed because we had a nice friendship before that but he changed his daily route (we used to meet each other everyday on our way home) and when he saw me today he just looked like he wanted to disappear. DON'T DATE MUSICIANS. NEVER. JUST DON'T DO IT. DON'T DATE WRITERS, ARTISTS, SOCCER PLAYERS OR MUSICIANS. THEY'RE ALL ASSHOLES.
When I go to work, Rebecca opens a window for me and I jump out into the night and hunt and scavenge. At the end of it I come back with whatever it is and drop it like a mouse at her feet and hope so much that she'll think I've done a good thing.
- Daniel Day Lewis's acceptance speech, Golden Globes 2013 I tried not to watch the Golden Globes tonight because watching award shows alone just reminds you of all the years you didn't watch it alone and that's just not a good habit to get into. I already make jokes OUT LOUD about what's happening on every TV show/commercial/movie to no one in particular, sitting spread out on my futon mattress that sits on the floor of the basement, because my cousin and I happened to have broken the frame a couple of years ago. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. I don't know why I found this little thing he said about his wife so romantic. Maybe it's because I've exclusively dated artists. Older women in the theater world have always told me: don't date another actor. And so far, they've been pretty right. I should just STAY AWAY from these men. But listening to Mr. Day Lewis tonight, with all his Method cray-cray chatter, made me excited to find someone else who views their craft - or at least wants to view their craft - like that. As a gift, to create and then eternally give away to those you love... however shoddy and self-centered the art form may be.
I want to date an artist
a writer, a painter, a musician, a singer.. I just think that artists are usually so passionate about their craft, there's something sexy about dedication. I feel like they would view sex as so much more than just sex. Our dates would be magical, and gifts could always be handmade.
