The horizon of the city was lighting up and he would be forced to return to the Clocktower.
But just before that, he thought as he peeked at the Moon Princess half-asleep by his side, he would have to say good-bye.
Reaching over, he gently took her hand in his clawed hand before lifting it to his lips for a chaste kiss.
"Night Princess."

Brooklyn, who looked comically confused with the flowers in his grasp, smiled sheepishly at her, “Thanks there Princess.”
There was a shift in the balance of the universe as Pitch Black, Admiral of the Shadowed Fleets sailed between stars in search of the planet heard to be the home of young souls who put their lives in the hands of belief. Tales of these children throwing themselves into fantasies of sweet dreams and imagined optimism made Pitch crave their retched screams. He would show these children just how bitter sweet a wishful dream could become. He would devour the happiness from their very minds and make them believe in something far more prominent in regards to reality; fear.
It was the quake of the fabric of space that caused Pitch Black to slow the pursuit of his vessels and take a moment to establish an understanding of his surroundings. What Pitch saw was the warm pulsation of a moon shining reassurance upon a dark blue globe. From where Pitch watched this phenomenon, he noted that golden lights peppered the silhouettes of large land masses beneath the glow of the moon's light. More and more lights seemed to blink on in spurts, mirroring the stars that twinkled overhead. Pulling up his map to make note of what planet he was looking at, Pitch was thrilled to discover that he was laying his eyes upon the very Earth he was hoping to find.
The Nightmare King rolled up his map and returned it to its place on his wooden table and he instead grabbed his celestial compass that hung about a golden rope adorning his waist. Noting the latitude of his current location, Pitch dropped the item from the palm of his hand and allowed it to fall beneath the folds of his black cloak once more. Gentle fingers motioned palm up toward the planet as if he was tossing a playful frisbee before himself, and the smooth movement was paired with a short command spoken with no remorse, "Consume those golden lights."
His tattered galleon sailed forth toward the horizon of Earth, the dark blue sphere becoming the entirety of what the King saw before himself, but he allowed himself another moment to look back at the pallid moon. Sucking in a long breath, Pitch threw his hand toward the moon and with a militant voice he commanded, "Change course! Head to the skies!"
The Alpha ship complied whilst all others continued on their journey to the surface of the planet, and Pitch sneered as his attention fixated on the smaller orb that circled his prior destination. There was something young about the glow of the moon's surface, something innocent in its pallor. Who walked the silver light of Earth? How inexperienced was this soul? Desire to corrupt such a peaceful presence drove Pitch upwards toward the cratered sphere. This is until his ship was struck from the skies and sent plummeting to the surface of the Earth's relentless ocean.
