Oh she’s seen him upon the square before, papers in hand that he grips tight in the breeze, lest they scatter and float like petals caught up in a springtime torrent. A POET, a penniless writer obsessed with all the ideals that made this world truly BEAUTIFUL. She watched him pass each day, a charming naivety in his step, that boyish smile that reached his eyes as the sun kissed his cheeks. Even his clothes, worn thin and restitched along hems, could not dampen and hide the glow that came from within.

Otherworldly creature, hidden among the mundane, she too steps out into the daylight, hands filled with offerings of pastries and freshly brewed tea ( she had taken a guess; green tea, a touch of lemon and honey ). She steps to his seated position, hunched over his writing, footfalls light and quiet.

❝ ——— I never see you let a lovely day such as this go to waste. ❞ Kindness is offered in her smile, not only in the gifts she brings to him. ARTISTS deserved food and drink, even the penniless ones, did they not ? ❝ I, ah ———— I thought you might enjoy these. ❞
