Dave’s Tugboat Rides
got a few coming up 😏
1:87 scale.
Kate’s Motel. 1:87 scale diorama.
Did you see Gillian Anderson on 'Top Gear' tonight? I did not expect the English accent. Loved the pottymouth though. She was completely charming.
i haven't seen it yet! and yeah the accent is always a surprise, she's bidialectical so she tends to skew english when she's there and american when she's in the states.
davetown replied to your post: I really should just stop procrastinating and...
What I love most about Roger Ebert is not necessarily that I always agree with him, but that his reviews are among the finest prose being produced in this country, bar no one. So, yeah, get with it.
WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS SO SUPPORTIVE OF ME YOU ARE CRAZY
but thanks, I might actually consider it, haha. I wanted to be a writer when I was a kid (and now, let's face it), an actress in elementary and middle school, a playwright when I was in early high school, a film director when I was in late high school/college, and now I'm just like uggghhh I don't know what I want to do. But I've always loved writing and movies. So maybe I should just get down to it and start figuring out how to combine all my interests.
The main hurdle is my own lack of motivation to do anything... about anything.... Hard work scares me. GUFFAW. but really it does.
I dunno. Still trying to figure out how I can contribute to society. I'll get back to you when I discover my talents, lol.
I know you love the movie 'Psycho', so I'm wondering what your take is on the up coming A&E tv series that is a modern-day reboot/prequel kinda deal. I saw the trailer when I went to see 'The Hobbit' tonight and was underwhelmed. LOVED 'The Hobbit' though; have you seen it yet?
I hadn't even heard of it, but I just looked it up, and WOW, it looks disappointing. I think that they're just jumping on the horror-drama TV bandwagon like American Horror Story, somewhat Dexter, and the forever-upcoming Hannibal series. I mean, they even stole the major element of the American Horror Story opening theme for that trailer, lol.
Yeah, that one looks really...meh, which is sad because Psycho was so revolutionary and vivid for its time, but this new adaptation looks pretty much like everything else that's going on. I'll give it a chance though. Some modern adaptations have been proven to rock hardcore (BBC's Sherlock being the main point of reference here, haha).
I was also a little disappointed with the Hitchcock trailer which is what I thought you were talking about originally, but even that looks like it could be some kind of kooky take on Psycho, some weird mix of snappy humor and horror. I'll give it some faith because it has a wicked cast with Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Scarlet Johansson, but the writing looks a little iffy.
Anyway, wow, trailer review time, haha.
THE HOBBIT WAS SO GOOD.
IT WAS JUST SO GOOD.
I was really worried that it was gonna turn into a kid's movie, but it really wasn't, at least not entirely. (The Goblin King was a little underwhelming, but that's really the only major complaint, haha). I thought Martin Freeman was AMAZING and it got me so interested in re-researching what all went on in the book, like who the Necromancer really is and everything, and just AAAAHHH it was so good. I can't WAIT for the next two. Then we can have 24-hour Tolkien marathons instead of just 12-hour ones!
(btw we played a lord of the rings drinking game the other day and let me just tell you that that is more effective than jello shots)
