Restless Mistakes {Dave Strider x Reader}

Awakening from your slumber you hummed hearing the soft pitter patter of rain upon your tin roof. A small smile made its way onto your lips, rain always made you feel so tranquil and peaceful. A small sigh squeezed past your lips, you slipped open one of your eyelids spotting a short shadowed figure leaning against your door frame. “What are you doing just standing there, come here.” You sat up as the figure came staggering forward. “Ahhh~!” The small child squealed cutely before crawling up onto the bed and into your arms. The small amount of moonlight slipping in between the slits of your blinds revealed the child’s sparkling eyes. You ran a soft hand through the little amount of hair on its head, the other cupping its small cheek. The light flickered on, you looked up. “Dave, honey you’re home.” You grinned, he nodded a grin etching onto his own face, and it was in no way a happy grin. It was the kind of grin that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. “I am indeed, baby.” Your gaze moved down to the twitching hand of your husbands, a strangled gasp left your lips. Out of instinct you pressed the child to your body, that knife wasn’t coming anywhere near your child. You looked down as you heard the child start to cry, “SHUT UP!” You knew Dave didn’t want a child but in the end you had convinced him that it would be a wonderful experience that would bring the two of you together, as a family. Apparently he had already had enough of parenthood. Your eyes widened as he took a few steps forward you jumped up and grabbed the lamp on our bedside table. “You aren’t doing this, I won’t let you!!” You yelled feeling tears pool in your eyes, knowing the outcome of this wouldn’t be one you would enjoy. “Y-You can’t do this.” “I don’t want to hurt you, (y/n).” You sniffled, “Then don’t do this! Because this will hurt me, maybe not physically but please, don’t do this.” Your voice cracked as you fell to your knees sobs wracking your body, you watched as he got closer to you. “Hand him over.” “NO!” You screamed holding the small child tighter to your chest hearing its cries and screams meld with your own. “I don’t want to hurt you (y/n)!” “You are going to hurt me!” You heard him growl, “I said, HAND HIM OVER!” You were grabbed roughly and you had no slither of guilt pass through you as you turned bashing him over the head with the lamp hearing the lightbulb smash against his skin. He stumbled back, in his moment of weakness you raced past him, he grabbed your ankle the knife cutting into your skin. You fell the child flying from your grasp, Dave was quicker than you. He was already up and had jumped over you, you got up. “RUN!!” You yelled to the scurrying toddler, there was no hope for the child if Dave got to him before you did. You flung yourself at the man’s back your arms circling his neck. “I WON’T LET YOU KILL OUR CHILD!!” The knife plunged into one of your arms, you fell backwards hitting your head on the edge of your coffee table. “N-No.” You whimpered sitting up and pulling the knife out of your arm, your vision grew fuzzy as you crawled towards the bathroom where you saw Dave run to. “Stop…” Your voice was only above a whisper as you reached the door opening it with a creak. Your line of sight was only at Dave’s black polished shoes. “Die.” A loud snap rang through your ears and then your child’s body dropped in front of your eyes, the neck twisted almost a full 180 degrees. The eyes you had seen sparkle mere minutes ago now dull and void of life. You continuously screamed and held the child to your chest, you watched as Dave left. “Pills. Swallow all the pills.” You heard a child’s voice whisper the words into your ear, it sounded like it was the best idea you had ever had. “He did this.” The voice of what you assumed was your deceased child, continued. “Take the pills and then make him pay.” The knife that had been in your arm prior was slid under the bathroom door. You felt yourself begin to fade into unconsciousness, purple spots filling your vision until all you saw was your child’s body. Dave must have plunged that knife deeper into your skin than you had first thought. You sat up finally waking from your nightmare in a cold sweat, your cheeks were damp with tears. “(y/n)?” The lights flickered on. You screamed, “(y/n)!” You let him hold you in his arms, fresh tears streaming down your cheeks. “Was it that nightmare again?” You shook your head, “N-No.” You hiccuped, “It was a memory.”
