I have a question that's been bothering me for years and I've been following you do ME playthroughs almost religiously so figure you're the person to ask and I really dislike asking Google anything these days.
Is there ever any mention of David Anderson knowing Alec Ryder professionally? They're pretty close in age and they both served in the First Contact War, both are N7 and both dealt with highly classified and black ops missions for the Alliance. Maybe a mention I missed in Liara's communication with the Andromeda Initiative?
Even if you don't know the answer, I think my headcanon will probably make it so they did know each other professionally but can't hurt to ask.
Thank you.
I know what you mean about Google. Or any place online where you can't find the proper reference ;_______; And I play intensely but not really well!!!!! My memory is also terrible rn.
Let's ask, does anyone remember a mention of them knowing each other?
I can't recall a specific instance where Anderson is mentioned in Alec's conversation with Castis, the Benefactor or even in messages left by himself or by Liara. Even her last one to him (I checked my playthroughs). The Normandy SR-2, Shepard, Garrus, the Shadow Broker, Hackett and the previous Primarch are mentioned though!
I see a Reddit thread where someone said Alec mentions a soldier that might be Anderson but I don't remember it. Even with Cora's conversations about Alec there's nothing that tells me something is about Anderson. In one of the memories with Ellen and the kids, Alec mentions the first time humanity went through a mass relay and how they were scared, "Admiral Grissom" included, but he doesn't say another name.
But even if you disregard what they have in comment as you shared (both being N7, both being a part of the First Contact War with Grissom himself, etc.), there's also Alec's reputation. He was at the top of his game and a military attache on the Citadel representing humanity/Earth when he suggested the use of AI, then he had to go back to Earth. In of the memories, he said their savings are gone, no one is returning his calls and he's a pariah. Makes me think that even if it's not Alliance-wide, people knew of him. He might be a cautionary tale. And Anderson had his own, to be honest. After that, as the Arks leave in 2185 and the events of ME1 happen in 2183, it's hard to tell if Alec's file would find his way to Anderson if he replaces Udina after ME1, but it's possible.
I've read the books with Anderson but it's been a while too and they were written long before MEA was a thing! So I think the question of them meeting each other, as you specificed in a professional setting, might be related to headcanons unless someone can give us the proof.
People wonder if Alec met Shepard, but it seems more likely to me that he met Anderson. During the First Contact War, in an Alliance location, perhaps even on the Citadel. So I think they met, just not sure if they worked together.
2 for the soft OC asks :)
2. Probably the weirdest comfort food known to man but Sushi. It was the first meal she shared with Anderson when she was on the streets and discussing her potential future in the Alliance. It takes her back to a happier memory. The night after his funeral, Kaidan got her sushi when she asked even though she didn't admit why she asked for it.
What’s your Shepard "Wait! I can explain" moment?
The time Wrex let her try on his armour while he "safeguarded" her omni-tool.
In her cabin, after a mission. After a shower. Both buck-naked.
She got a call from Anderson, and Wrex, being Wrex, accepts the call.
"Hang on, Admiral, she's a bit *snorts* she's a bit... hang on." He gets up, holding the tool by his side, BY HIS SIDE, so Anderson is pinching the bridge of his nose, knowing this krogan is naked, and the omni-tool finally moves upwards "—epard, it's your dad."
Anderson gets the entire view of the massive armour standing in Shepard's cabin because Wrex is holding the omni-tool in portrait style.
And then... her head only just peeks out.
"DAMNIT WREX! Uh, hey dad, I can... uh, I can explain—"
"That won't be necessary." Anderson hangs up, and Wrex needs half an hour to stop laughing. Shepard calls him back as soon as she is done with the suit (it was fun, after all) (two hours later, dressed this time).
And that's how Admiral David Anderson found out his daughter is doing stuff and things no one should know about with an ancient ass krogan.
Thank you for asking, toboe! Made me chuckle as I wrote it down 😂
