I can't @ them because they blocked me when I told them people are gonna start reporting them if they keep spamming (literally, they're using a bot) their ARG promo on random people's posts with the word 'hands' in them/tagged. . . SO, I'm gonna post this and tag their @ so all yall who think the gimmick is harmless fun can see and maybe convince them to kill the bot and stop bothering RANDOM PEOPLE:
The 'I C U T O F F H I S H A N D S' thing? Using a BOT to reply on every post that has the 'hands' keyword? That's spam. Which is a dick thing to do IN GENERAL, but it's also a dick thing to do when AMPUTATIONS ARE A REAL THING THAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE and said replies CAN AND HAVE triggered people with TRAUMA around that concept.
Like. Look. I'M frustrated because every post in a character tag I frequent is seeing this ARG being promo'd in the replies* (cause the guy's name is 'Hands') and said guy lost a leg in canon - not a hand, I'll grant, but the 'losing a limb' thing is still painful, even if it's a different limb. But I've ALSO seen people talking about REAL LIFE things get triggered because the bot doesn't know how to read a room.
ARGs can be fun! I'm not saying to stop the ARG! What I AM saying is: These things, especially if you're talking horror/body horror? They NEED to be opt-in. You CANNOT make people have to send you asks or reply to you that you triggered them so you can block them to 'opt them out'**.
(*Also, self promo on STRANGER'S POSTS is. . . I shouldn't have to explain this. It's a dick move. You are USING people, who DID NOT CONSENT, to promote your thing. Reach out to horror people - in ASKS - and see if they'd partner with you, stop involving STRANGERS who might not be interested in your genre and might be TRIGGERED by your content.)
(**This is what I'm ASSUMING the intent with the blocks is, otherwise it's just refusing to take accountability for the harm being done - which, it still is ANYWAY, because the behavior isn't changing. Every person I've seen who's told you to cut it out and that it's insensitive has said they've been blocked. I like to think we live in a world where - even misguided people - choose to be kind, so until I'm proven wrong, I'm gonna continue to assume that's why you're blocking people. I'm also gonna say again: It isn't enough and you need to change your promo methods.)
