Fascinating to hear something so so old (1910) preserved from its original recording source (cylinders?).
David Brazell was a Welsh baritone singer (born in 1875).
What a rich voice. I can only imagine how unique his talent would have been in those times.
Dyma'r gynta o gyfres o recordiau 78 ydw i yn bwriadu recordio i mewn i'r cyfrifiadur a'u cyhoeddi ar y blog yma. Mae gen i ryw ddwsin o recordiau 78 Cymraeg ar y funud, nifer wedi eu prynu mewn siop elusennol yng Nghaerfyrddin fis Hydref 2012. Does dim dyddiad ar y record hon ond mae'r darn canlynol o wefan y Llyfrgell Genedlaethol yn awgrymu ei bod hi o leiaf 80 mlwydd oed, efallai bron yn 100 hyd yn oed! Anhygoel!
He had a delightful and rich baritone voice which was always well disciplined. As the style and quality of his voice were ideal for recording purposes, his name was one of the first to appear in the catalogues of gramophone companies. He started to record on wax rolls before the turn of the twentieth century and he continued to record on 78 disks for about half a dozen recording companies up to the 1930s. These disks included popular songs, selections from operas and oratorios and Welsh songs.
