‘What the matter with you?’ Hondo questioned, Deacon pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head. ‘I don’t know Hondo.’ Deacon commented, dropping his hat into the back seat of the jeep. ‘You know Y/N.’ Hondo told him, Deacon nodded. ‘We all know her.’ Deacon replied, Hondo nodded as he rested against the doors. ‘Yeah, but you’ve been hanging out with her more since you and Annie divorced.’ Hondo pointed out, Deacon nodded. ‘She understands.’ Deacon easily explained. ‘I think I know what your problem is.’ Hondo stated, Deacon looked at him with a raised eyebrow. ‘You like her D.’ Hondo stated, leaning forward. ‘Of course I do.’ Deacon replied, Hondo smirked and shook his head. ‘No, you have romantic feelings for her.’ Hondo told his friend who looked shocked and confused. ‘No.’ He hesitated. ‘Oh come on, open your eyes.’ Hondo stated, tapping the side of his head. ‘The last time I saw you like this D, was with your ex-wife.’ Hondo told him, he went to disagree but stopped when the radio crackled.
‘Shots fired. I repeat shots fired.’ Your voice came through the radio shortly after the loud pops filled the air. Hondo turned and watched Deacon who cleaned his jaw tightly, readjusting the grip on the gun before turning back to the building getting ready to send the team in when the radio fizzed. ‘Suspect is injured and moving towards the back exit but Sergeant Y/L/N has been shot.’ Your partners voice came through. ‘Chris, Street go to the exit and get him.’ Hondo commanded, they nodded and started crossing the area to get into position, Hondo turned to Deacon. ‘You, me are going in the front.’ Hondo told him, he stiffly nodded. ‘Luca, Tan, wait for the ambulance to arrive then guide it to the front door, we’ll bring Y/L/N out.’ He stated, the pair nodded before Hondo and Deacon raised their guns and marched across before breathing the door. Creeping through the corridor, their guns aimed in front of them as they cleared each section painfully slow for Deacon, knowing that you were injured. Reaching the area, your partner held their hands up and they jogged over to you. Lowering their weapons, Deacon dropped to his knee. ‘It’s a through and through on the leg.’ You slurred, Deacon looked at you as he made you follow his finger, your reaction was slightly slow. ‘I think I might have nicked the artery.’ Your partner stated, slightly moving their hands so Deacon and Hondo could see the wound but the blood sprayed. ‘It has nicked an artery.’ Your partner corrected themselves, Hondo radio back to the team and you faintly heard the person on the other end reply. ‘Did you get him?’ You asked, trying to move to make your self comfortable but Deacon shook his head and made your stay still. ‘Yeah, Chris and Street got him.’ Hondo informed you, you gave him a tired smile. ‘Which one of your shot him?’ Hondo asked, your partner jutted her chin at you as she applied more pressure to the wound, you sighed and your body went limp. Deacon caught you before Hondo reacted and quickly moved the box you were leaning against, so they could lie you down. ‘Deacon.’ You said, shocked to see him at your door. ‘What brings you to my humble abode?’ You asked gesturing to the small hospital room, the corners of his lips curled up as he slowly walked in.
‘How are you?’ He asked, you shrugged your shoulders. ‘Good for being shot at.’ You replied, he small smile immediately flipped upside down. ‘Yeah.’ He said. ‘You sound more injured than I am.’ You told him, moving carefully to get comfy on the not so comfortable bed. ‘I’m just shocked, that you are up and walking.’ He replied, you tried to smile but it felt more like a grimace. ‘Eh, not walking actually only shimming.’ You joked, but you watched as his face twisted. ‘Deacon, sit next to me.’ You commanded, he arched an eyebrow at you before he moved over and lowered himself into the bed. ‘You aren’t telling me everything.’ You stated, he looked at the small window watching the nurses walk by before turning back to you. ‘I can’t bare to see you hurt.’ He admitted, you tilted your head slightly. ‘I’m fine Deacon.’ You replied. ‘No, seeing you lying on that floor bleeding my heart broke into tiny little pieces.’ He started you watched as his throat bobbed up and down. ‘I really shouldn’t feel like this, I’ve just been divorced.’ He said, your eyebrows furrowed before you looked to the iv’s that were in your arm. ‘What do you feel like Deacon?’ You asked him. ‘I feel as if I’ve lived my life with you, the –‘ he glanced at you, ‘the love I feel shouldn’t exist.’ He looked away, feeling awkward and shy for once in his life, but when the warmth of your hand was rested on his cheek he looked back up. ‘How about before you start denying your feelings I treat you to dinner at my place when I’m let out of here.’ You said, he blue eyes widened and you noticed the light pink that dusted over the tops of his cheeks. ‘You won’t be moving when your released.’ He warned you, your rolled your eyes. ‘No, but I can order in.’ You stated, tapping his cheek lightly moving to pull away but he reached up and took your hand in his. ‘I accept.’ He replied, you smiled widely as he pressed a kiss to your palm in order to avoid the needle sticking out the top.
