THE TWILIGHT ZONE | 5.13 RING-A-DING GIRL
Gunpoint 1966
David Macklin in The Twilight Zone, Season 5 Episode 13, "Ring-A-Ding Girl" - Aired Dec 27, 1963
Today would have been the 82nd birthday of actor David Macklin, who passed away in April 2017. Here he is with Ken Osmond ("Eddie Haskell") and Grandpa in The Munsters episode 68, Herman’s Sorority Caper, and in the Twilight Zone episode The Ring-a-Ding Girl.
I never met David "in real life" but he and I were online friends for many years, dating back to the days of message boards and Yahoo Groups, before Facebook or Tumblr even existed. We conversed by email, snail mail, and phone over the years. He sent me an autographed copy of his book, Acting in the Motion Picture Business. David was a perennial guest star on many classic TV series in the 1960's and 70's, including Perry Mason (4 episodes), Gunsmoke, The Virginian, Tammy, The Fugitive, The FBI, Medical Center, Gidget, Lassie, Ironside, and more. He starred with Jack Klugman in a short-lived NBC sitcom, Harris Against the World (1964-65). Tonight, in David's honor, I will rewatch the episode of Bonanza (The Blood Line, 1960) where David played the angry young man. The DVD includes David's commentary on the episode. Happy Birthday, old friend.
