Jennifer and Jeffrey Benz' Little Sister
Most people would know Julie Benz as Rita from the serial killing TV series, Dexter, the once girlfriend, then wife, and then dead wife of the titled character, but I, in particular, being a fan of the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin off Angel, remember her more as Darla, one of the four main vampire characters in the Buffy universe. What you probably did not know about Benz is that the actress used to be a figure skater. She used to compete as an ice dancer with her partner, David Schilling. In fact, her whole family skates. Her mother was a figure skater, and so as her older brother and sister. Julie Benz’ older siblings, Jennifer and Jeffrey Benz skated together and were the1987 U.S. Junior Champions in Ice Dancing. The brother and sister team were a promising young skating stars. According to Dena Yeagley, who was the Figure Skating Director from Pennsylvania State University, the Benz siblings are the one to watch out for as up and coming. Jeffrey Benz skated competitively while attending college at University of Michigan, it was during that time he found himself at a crossroads. It was the point in his life where he starts to wonder which path he should choose, become a lawyer or keep skating. At a time when ice dancing was not as popular in the US as it is now, Benz chose the former; he ended his skating career in 1989 to pursue full time - becoming a lawyer. Now, he is a successful high-powered sports lawyer, his former skating partner and sister, Jennifer, is now a teacher and his youngest sister, Julie (well… we already know what happened to her) is now a successful film and television actress.
