In honor of Halloween Gorefest, here is a short clip depicting a bloody feud from 1982. You can find longer versions of the scene on YouTube, but I distilled it down to focus on the selling and suffering.
Buddy Rose offers $5,000 to "Doctor D" David Schultz to join him in a Tag Team. To get his attention, Rose slaps Schultz across the face with the stack of bills. Schultz reacts violently, attacking Rose all over the studio and stealing the $5,000.
This leads to a grudge match (one of many) where both opponents end up wearing the dreaded Crimson Mask. This short clip offers a glimpse into the sleazy, brutal, and thrilling style of wrestling that had me spellbound (and quite turned on) 40+ years ago. It was just so inappropriate, and taboo, and masculine, and sexy -- under a veneer of realism. This wild, homoerotic violence did a number on my brain's turn-on triggers.

Scenes from the classic David Schultz vs. Sal Bellomo match featured in today's Saturday Scissor video. Now we get to see what happened after Dr. D escaped that Headscissor -- and it's not good for poor Salvatore!
if you're into those old-timey singlets (as I am), this match is a visual treat. Schultz actually defeats Bellomo with a basic Verical Suplex move, which emphasizes the jobber's utter vulnerability. How humiliating to lose the match to a mere Suplex!
In 1984, Dr. D would go on to aggressively slap a reporter across the face (twice) for asking him whether pro wrestling is fake. I recall when that happened and it both outraged and thrilled me - what a tough dominant mofo Real Man! However it immediately ended Dr. D's career in wrestling.
If Schultz would do THAT to a reporter just for asking dumb questions, imagine what he'd do to harm a jobber who locked on the Headscissor a bit too aggressively! Schultz's real life aggression helped me to believe, at some level, in the titillating danger and cruelty of pro wrestling, which only made me crave it more.
