Music Mondays: Stükenberg
Growing up the child of traveling missionaries, David Stükenberg turned to music at a young age; its consistency was greatly valued. He learned to play multiple instruments and began writing his own music. By 18, David had turned down multiple music scholarships in exchange for a few music-related contracts in Nashville, TN. A few years later, he returned to Wisconsin to focus on writing his own music and in 2010, released The Silo Project. He is now based out of Austin, TX. He has released 2 full length albums, Mountain of Pieces (2008) and The Silo Project (2010), as well as an EP, Buy In (2011). His latest album will be released soon, and it will definitely be a crowd pleaser. It is the perfect record to listen to while driving on a sunny day and you feel like beating the heck out of your steering wheel. There's a strong message in each song, with a definitely theme running throughout the whole album. The lyrics urge us to be kind to one another, that "we are all the same" and we're all much smaller in the grand scheme of things than we'd like to admit. It is most definitely humbling and the kind of album that gets under your skin and into your thoughts.
