"It’s been five very long days since the tragic passing of my best friend Cherokee. We have shared many memories and it’s painful to realize there will be no more. He’s always been like a brother to me, and I loved him like one too. Standing next to his casket at both the wake and the funeral and seeing all the people that came up to see him I could see the emotion. I could see that not only did a lot of people love him, but he also gave out a lot of love to others. Those who knew him well, knew that he lived life to the fullest every minute of every day. I know his family loved him so much and their lives will be forever changed with his passing. It’s hard to believe how much one young man can impact the lives of so many, and that’s what we’ll miss about him. I’ll miss seeing him in the halls, on the practice field, on the game field, up in the mountains, out on the lake, and out in the woods. Everybody is handling their grief in their own way, and we all go through an array of emotions at different times. I strongly encourage you to talk it over with someone you trust. Now I don’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable, but you can always go to God too. Even if you don’t know what that means I encourage you to try. Even if you’ve never been to church in your life I promise you’re going to feel something, because I think we all know right where Cherokee is. He’s right next to the guy you’re praying and talking too. I know he’s up there, watching over all of us, and it’ll be a great reunion when the time comes, but first I gotta make sure all of you will get that same reunion too someday." -David T.
I couldn't put it better myself. David (my cousin) is so right. I wanted to share this with anyone who isn't friends with him on facebook. And I want you all to know that I'll talk with anyone who needs someone to talk to, and I'm here for all of you, but I do think it would be good if you also tried talking to God.
I love you guys, and I love Cherokee.
