‘Olivia Rose Austin’ is one of my absolute favorite roses. This photo was taken last year about this time when I was growing this fragrant beauty in a small container in the garden of the AirBNB that we were staying in, desperately looking for a house and a garden to call our own. Briefly after we luckily found our dream home in Austin I planted this rose in a raised bed in our new garden and she took off like gang busters. But sadly suddenly the leaves started to shrivel up and one cane after the other turned brown and it declined rapidly. I don’t know what has happened but assume that a fungal disease has infected the rootball. I still have some hope that the rose will come around and renew herself once temperatures cool down, but if not, one thing is for sure, I will buy a new one! Like in the garden not all things go well in life. Sadly, approximately five weeks ago my 88 years old mom became very ill. I am in Germany since about four weeks now trying to care for and support her in this difficult time. It is a sad and sometimes very overwhelming undertaking and I just couldn’t find the time nor did I have the energy to keep posting regularly on my account and I can only hope that you all will understand. I will try to post as often as possible since it always brings me joy and it feels good to connect with you all and have some normalcy in my life but I foresee that it will continue to be irregular for quite a while. Lastly I want all of you to know as well that even though also my time to visit your accounts is very limited, if I do, I really enjoy seeing your posts. They often brought some beauty and lightness into my life for which I am very thankful for and it is wonderful to be reminded that the world is not all illness and the challenges that come with it.
