Senator David Leyonhjelm is on an absolute roll lately and doesn't care who knows it.

The Liberal Democrat -- fresh off calling babies "bundles of dribble and sputum," starring in an NRA video, confessing his "candidates are freaks" and admitting "I have smoked dope and I did inhale -- that was the point" -- has serenaded the Senate chamber with a taxation-inspired rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas on Wednesday morning.

Titled "The Five Tax Bills of Christmas," Leyonhjelm pointed out the tax changes the government has put through in 2015; or, in his words, "my treasurer sent to me":

- slower deductions - Seafarer's tax - more CGT (Capital Gains Tax) - more FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax) - and a tax on the elderly-y-y

"What a year it's been. The government has been hitting home runs on tax reform all year. I've loved every one of them... well a kind of love. So in the spirit of Christmas, let me recite a little ditty," the senator said by way of explanation.

"Given my warm feelings for all the senators in this chamber, I was tempted not to sing it... but given it's nature, I really have no choice."

"Merry Christmas everyone."
