How’s this for a crazy stat…93 of Richard Petty’s 200 Cup wins came in races where David Pearson wasn’t in the field.

Pearson only scored eight of his 105 Cup wins in races were Petty wasn’t entered. The “what if” list is long in the history of NASCAR, but it’s almost inconceivable to think what the record books may look like if Pearson desired to run full time in the seventies.

RIP David Pearson, The Silver Fox. The only driver besides Richard Petty to win 100+ races (105 to be exact) in NASCAR's Cup series. He enjoyed gray success driving Banjo Matthew's #6 Dodge and the #17 Holman-Moody Ford, during the 1960's, but many remember him best for his highly successful run in the 1970's, driving The Wood Brother's #21 Mercury.
