The book 'beautiful boy' by David Sheff, about the journey through his son’s addiction, is one of the most incredible books I've read in the last ten years. It's touching, honest and raw. It helped me to accept the pain that comes with loving an addict without blaming anyone for it. I could not put it down and read it twice the year it got published (2008) and I read it again recently when I had to bury that loved one a few months ago. I just learned that Felix van Groeningen filmed it and the previews look good.
