Break it down ody!!!!

major credits to @ giulia_blue on tiktok for their incredible depiction of Odysseus' mom in their underworld animatic! Loved the imagaery, aand just had to use it for this animatic's purposes :) A lot of subtle hints and decisions for this animatic! Many have noticed stuff on tiktok, but I haven't seen it all get discussed yet, so have fun watching this! Thanks for everything :)

Artist commentary below the line:

I had decided going in that I wanted multiple spidersonas, each depicted in the same style as their original artists. Really go for the "Anyone can be behind the mask vibe".

I mainly picked friends, but there were a few other artists that I wanted to pick out, because their art just stood out for me.

I think teapuppp's panel was what really compelled me to try and "preserve the style". Also, while it may look like I took screencaps of the original pieces or maybe even lifted the drawings from them, I actually redrew some of the sketches of other artists, while adding a "twist". I had to look at a lot of other artist's art to try and even mimic a fraction of their style.

Did you know, you can't dm anyone anymore if they don't follow you?? I did my best to reach out to the artists I actually closely redrew from, but also made sure to keep the redraws not exactly the same. No tracing was done here, just heavily referenced!

I wanted to make sure it was clear what was redrawn from whom, who I referenced art from, and whose art I was able to use. To break that down, whatever I redrew is labeled such, whoever let me use their art is labeled with "art by" and whoever I referenced their style from, it's simply labeled with their handle!

I actually had at least 90% of this project complete by the end of September, but a week long vacation trip slowed my pace to a halt and I just didn't fully pick it back up again till recently. Kept feeling the weight of personal expectations and not living up to them 😒😒

In general, I wanted this to be a love letter to the spider-man mythos and the character, the idea that no matter what knocks him down, he would always get back up. Even if its a canon event, he'd never back down to the challenge. I hope I got that across!

Hello!!! I'm not dead! In fact, I've got a whole lotta art to share with ya! To start, I've got August's monthly theme for ya: Awgust - a month where the main goal of this month's art is to simply get you to go 'awww' through any means necessary! A cute month for cute things!

Then, for day 1, shared a pic of an old oc with a fresh new design: Robin!! For her pose, did a cute little reference to an older drawing of her from 2020, as well as included her new reference sheet! Finally, I've been getting REALLY into Fields of Mistria, so for Day 2, I thought it would be nice to just include all the seasonal fits I've made for Daisey! (she's feeling some bi-panic during the fall, don't mind her) I've got a couple more ideas for the next 2 days before August ends, so please stay tuned!

The first of April BGS: The deserts of Mario, in honor of the Super Mario Bros Movie release! 

Incredibly excited to see the movie over the weekend!! :D For those uninitiated, April BGS is a personal monthly challenge of mine where I attempt to create character illustrations with contextual backgrounds

The plan is to post 1 every 5 days this month, for a total of 6 pieces, with the main goal of being able to draw bgs regularly :)
