Brick’s Path book 1 is finished! So what comes next?

Well… theoretically book 2. I like books 2 and 3 a lot more than 1, so I really want to get through them. But, there’s a lot of prep work I want to get done first! Specifically, I’m looking to

Do some cat anatomy studies

Redesign Brick, Bone, and Scourge and create new reference sheets for them

Design new characters

Create a map of the comic locations

Do some background studies and develop a consistent style

Make some background concept art

Finish the story script

Storyboard each page

Create a template for my pages

I’m also considering moving the comic to my DeviantArt instead of Tumblr.

All this prep work might take a while - maybe a couple months to a year? I’m sorry for the delay but I really want to work on developing my skills and making this look good! I’ll plan to post concept art and studies as I create them though. I’ll also update this list and cross things off as they get done.

What she means: Swiftpaw was so old. SO. OLD. For an apprentice!! He was older than Brackenfur and Cinderpelt, who both received their names MOONS before Swiftpaw’s warrior ceremony is even considered?? And then Fireheart says hey Bluestar, maybe Swiftpaw should be a warrior now because he’s older than our FULLY TRAINED MEDICINE CAT and Bluestar’s like. No. Because he’s probably a traitor. What’s your plan, Bluestar??? Keep this full grown cat an apprentice forever? It is painfully clear that the Erins completely forgot about this poor cat until they needed someone to tragically die. Swiftpaw deserved so much better. He should have been made a warrior ten thousand years before Fireheart brought it up to Bluestar. Both Longtail and Swiftpaw had every right to be bitter.

I LOVE that Daisy went to help take care of Smoky’s new kits. Here’s why.

Imagine those people who own the barn. They have three cats. One of them gets pregnant, and a bit later she disappears. You assume a fox probably got her. And then several years later she’s suddenly just chilling in your barn again.

It’s the most classic Cat move, good job Daisy

I think in the earlier series when each Clan had 10-12 warriors, having a single warrior’s den in a camp made sense. But now that there are like 25 warriors per Clan, it doesn’t seem as realistic. How big is that bush to be able to comfortably fit 25 cats? I know, I know... it’s a series about talking cats, so this is far from the most unbelievable thing. But stick with me here.

Imagine each Clan has multiple warrior’s dens within their camp.

Some Clans have 3-4 larger dens that house 8 or so cats, while other Clans have several more intimate dens that only house 3-5 cats.

One or two dens designated as the Senior Warrior’s dens. These are usually the warmest, best-built of the dens.

Warriors end up becoming close friends with their denmates

Most cats end up in dens with the cats they trained with, or otherwise cats close to their age, but there is some shuffling around so cats can be with their mates, or sometimes older siblings

What I say: I’m fine

What I mean: Four of Daisy’s five kits are dead. Does Daisy ever stay up at night, wondering if she made the right decision bringing her first three to the Clans? She traded their safety for the chance to be part of their lives. Does she ever wish she had let the Twolegs take them, just so they could have lived longer? Does she blame herself for Hazeltail and Berrynose’s deaths? I hope not. It’s unfair that she lost so many kits. Don’t even get me started on Ferncloud and how many kits she had to see die. Daisy had it rough and I wish more cats Spiderleg would show her more respect. I love Daisy.
