Takemura Week 2022: Day #6 - A World Without Color Is A World Without You

Prompt: Another Place, Another Time/Alternative Universe

If there was one thing that everyone in Night City knew was for certain, besides death and taxes, it was that every person on Earth had a soulmate. And until they met their soulmate and locked eyes with them for the very first time, they would never experience the world in color.

If the idea of it hadn’t been so very real, it would have been utterly laughable in the city of dreams, and where they went to die. But not even the best cyberware the corps could churn out onto the market was able to artificially correct the vision of someone who was still searching for their intended. 

And search they did. Sometimes for their whole lives. Others made their peace early on with the idea of a world that was forever in monochrome; idealism could only get you so far. The ones that were lucky enough to find their other half were presented with a whole new set of challenges. But at least you might get to experience the neon skyline of NC before you were flatlined by a cyberpsycho, or picked up off the street by scavs. That was the thing about true love; keeping yourself alive was a pretty hard requirement to be able to experience it. 

Goro Takemura had existed for so long in a world of black and white, he had long ago forgotten that things could be any different. Perhaps in his younger years he had been a bit more optimistic; going out of his way to stare at the face of every girl on the street that caught his attention. But, Arasaka was a demanding partner, and she was not so inclined to share him and his time. After so many years of diminishing hope and increasing obligations, it had become easier to consider himself married to his work and close the book on what was, after all, a statistically impossible search. 

With the bright, almost bubbly spirit that Valkyrie seemed to possess, one might have thought she had known colors since the beginnings of her earliest memories. She hadn’t of course, but it certainly wasn’t for her lack of trying. Like many others, she made sure to gaze into the eyes of every beautiful stranger she passed by, just in case. Just three years shy thirty, she’d managed to keep faith that the person meant for her was always just around the corner...Though admittedly, it had taken a bit of a backseat these past few months. The fracturing of her clan had taken a heavy toll on her, and sometimes it seemed that if NC wasn’t able to knock her off with a bullet, it would settle for running her straight into the ground instead.

Meeting your soulmate if you lived in the same city was hard enough on its own. But what if they lived across oceans? What if you found yourselves on opposite sides of the same conflict? Those were questions that had haunted them both, just like it had so many others before. But on the night of the botched heist at Konpeki Plaza, it was the last thing on either of their racing minds. Valkyrie was separated from the rest of her crew, trapped, and needing to improvise her own exit if she planned to escape the hotel with her life. Takemura was left reeling by the sudden demise of his master, and desperate to make someone answer for the crime. 

But that was the other thing about true love; it could never resist a bit of gallows humor...

Day6 of 365dfc (14.02.2021)

Сегодня занималась в Skillbox (поставила его себе на СР, СБ и ВС по 2,5 часа). Сейчас прохожу курс по C# разработке, но пока нахожусь на изучении базовых вещей - переменные, типы данных, операторы. 

Всего в моем курсе представлено около 22 модулей (+ 2 доп. модуля для помощи с дипломом и стажировкой), но чувствую, что я пока потрачу время на изучение только первых 13 модулей, чтобы наконец перейти к глубокому знакомству с VR и AR проектами в Unity. Жалко, не успела сделать практическую часть, было много теории.

Да, это не выглядит как большое количество информации, но, как я говорила, я не могу раздать исходный код, на котором тренировалась (там было 6 задач, которые нужно было выполнить с помощью трёх разных циклов).
