Post Canon El Chavo AU concepts (aka El Chavo ‘94)
Details about the AU
- it takes place in 1994, about 21 years after the show started, the characters have aged in that time span (making them almost freshly 30 here)
- Chavo is a part-time custodian of the neighborhood and a part-time street performer (he plays guitar and does stand up). He’s still dirt poor but is otherwise a surprisingly well adjusted person.
- Quico was sent away to his aunt’s in his childhood, as a way to better influence him and discipline him (which the latter especially happened a lot). In his adulthood, he works a dead end office job that he hates, as well as being an amateur (to be generous, he’s terrible at it) football player. He’s kind of a trainwreck.
- Chilindrina lived with her grandmother for the rest of her childhood after her father left to find work and presumably passed away, up until she was old enough to live on her own, and she is still living in her childhood home. She is unemployed and doesn’t really have any direction in life, she just does here own thing whatever that thing may be. Albeit for different reasons, she’s also kind of a trainwreck.
- Chavo’s wearing an outfit that’s similar to his outfit in childhood (still wearing the same hat as well) to show that he never really grew up, even though his friends did.
- it’s kind of hard to see here but Chilindrina has a chipped tooth (thanks a lot, Chavo)
- Don Ramon would be proud, because Chilindrina followed in his footsteps of not paying rent.
- Quico grew apart from his mother, I think mostly resenting her for sending him away from his friends and his home
- like I said, Quico has a dead end office job, but he would at some point lose this job as well as getting kicked out of his girlfriend’s apartment, which would prompt him to return to the neighborhood
- At one point Quico and Chilindrina get into a relationship, it’s messy and complicated. Both kind of have the same issue but on different ends of the spectrum, Quico has an issue with lack of independence feeling like he has to rely on other people, and Chilindrina has an issue with too much independence to the point where she’s just incredibly lonely
- Chavo is practically homeless, with his apartment becoming less and less livable as time went on, that still has not put a damper on self-assurance though
