OH and another London Update! Ofc it's physically impossible for me to go to London and not go to Shepherd's now, so a trip was made. I only came away with one paper, so a lot less damage than it could have been (and certainly less damage than the last two times LOL)

LOOK AT THE PRETTY.....

I saw it on top of the stack and my eyes were like those cat eyes when the pupils all dilate lmao. I did flip through the other two stacks but I couldn't lie to myself, it had to be this lol. I think I'm gonna use it for another of the in9 scripts when I get to them! Not sure which one will match the green vibe tho - maybe Misdirection 🤔🤔 much to think about!!

I don’t have enough words to express how emotional I was upon opening the box for this book. I screamed so loud that I startled my husband, and almost immediately started crying tears of joy. When I originally backed Not Without You on Kickstarter (in the final hour, no less) I was excited. I was willing to be patient, because I couldn’t BELIEVE that our fandom had come together with such an epic idea. These pictures are what I have to offer to show you guys the love and dedication that went into making this book. I didn’t want to spoil anyone who hasn’t received their package yet with any photos of the inside, and this doesn’t include all the marvelous extras the physical backers received either. I honestly cannot recall the last time I cried, screamed, and hugged a book when I opened it. I get excited whenever a new book comes in the mail, but this isn’t just a book. The width of this is that of my forearm. The foiling on Bucky’s star and the letters are so reflective I could probably blind a man. I took these photos in natural light on my DSLR to show just a GLIMPSE of how stunning it is. I can say without hesitation I do not own a single book like this. It is the most beautiful thing on my shelf. As a backer and Stucky lover, the people who worked to put this together have my standing ovation. I hope these photos are the love letter I’m trying to write to this anthology. <3 @notwithoutyoufanbook

Got my stucky anthology in the mail today! I’m so excited, its a gorgeous book with a lot of amazing art and stories. 10/10. I broke out one of my dads WW2 Sergeants uniforms to take the photo since I backed it at the sergeants level.

Other than Sphinx and Misdirection, which In9 episodes would you like to bookbind someday? And do you have any thoughts about what colours their covers would be?

Ooohh an excellent question!! So Riddle of the Sphinx was the first one i thought about cos i had the idea of trying to make the cover like a crossword, it sort of popped into my head fully formed lol

then when i was looking around for papers to use as endpapers, i found a set with this gorgeous hare design in a few different colours, so i thought it'd be lovely to make a set of my fave episodes all with the same endpaper inside but with a different colour for each, so its like a unifying theme even if the covers are all different! i would have liked possibly a less whimsical hare, but i like that this one has different colourways and it's actually quite cute, so whatever lol

so atm my thoughts are basically i wanna do (in addition to Riddle): Misdirection, The Trolley Problem, The Stakeout, Private View, How Do You Plead?, Simon Says and probably Mother's Ruin too! it's quite a lot so idk how many i'll actually get done (my binding project list is now getting quite large lkhgdlf'g) but i see the vision!!

all i need is a new job and i'm gonna get myself a printer so i can finally fucking finish off the projects i've already nearly done!! it's hard to get the motivation to finish them when i can't print the typeset and actually do the binding work, you know?

that rb of Riddle is just tantalising me even mooore, i'm fully in planning mode for this fanbinding of the script, i'm not even kidding dlfghgh

watching that clip like "yesssss i gotta get some red leather or bookcloth from Shepherd's next week and get a closeup of Steve's dressing gown pattern so i can get a paper to match and-"

and that's on top of how i've been percolating on how to do the cover as well - i'm thinking a sort of blackout poetry style to spell the episode title from the actual crossword??? idk tho, i might not be able to manage it with the letters available, i gotta draw it out and see XD if i can't, i'm thinking some sort of sphinx motif or maybe just cloth and paper to match the dressing gown, then the crossword grid plus clues on the inside endpapers, solved version at the back 🤔🤔🤔

i'm also planning on transcribing the two podcast/commentary episodes about it as well - i think they'll be really nice to be at the end!

So today I was productive and actually FINISHED A BOOK!!! Did the scrim and endbands, made the covers and then cased in and ahhhh, it's real!! My tiny book!!

There are a fair few things that I didn't do quite right but I know for the next two - list and pics below the cut

Gotta (carefully) cut off the endpapers cos I didn't realise that I needed to use the patterned paper for that part - the paper I used was plain and not thick enough so it tore

Replace those with patterned endpapers

Trim the spine down a bit cos it's a bit too big

Measure the bookcloth to paper ratios better so they're fucking even lmao (also buy a pencil!!!)

Figure out casing in a bit better, move the textblock closer to the spine before glueing

Do better corner cutting and folding when glueing down cover papers

Do not accidentally cut in the wrong place on the bookcloth and therefore make a hole lol
